11:30 AM THURSDAY UPDATE Seeing some scattered showers move through the Las Vegas Valley. Scattered rain and isolated t-storms remain in the forecast through the evening.

PWAT values are much higher in Arizona going into this event. Phoenix is often closer to tropical moisture than we are here in Las Vegas. Big reason why they are more active in this setup. Geography plays a big part, along with the track of the low.

Every storm is different. The center of this low is passing by to our north. Generally our higher precipitation events are when the low tracks by to our south and pulls in more moisture.

Could be. Looking at analogs for past strong El Niños for Las Vegas, it’s been about 50/50 whether rainfall was above or below average.
