As the head TO of Tampa's only weekly, I'm always talking to local players about what makes them interested in attending other events.
For CEO, the most common answers are the price, August timing this year (conflicts with college & other majors) and not showing attendees.

Are going to have to figure out how to get players to come.
HBox was able to get Cody but Zain took a break.
I had plans for sponsors to bring out some JP Players and some US favorites but they fell through.
We in FL have to pour more into the event. That's the only way IMO.

Couple things;
Have a second ring style stream station with commentary audio and more seating
Have dedicated friendly setups and nightly events in jebaily world for smash
Do more (any) out reach to bigger names sooner to get them to build hype
Have smash centric panels in JW
CEO was dope, but a very mid event for smash. Less and less people show up every year, and most who do still go don't take it seriously and just want to hang out
I hope they do something to revive the event for smash next year
