Hope people have fun generating patterns with this figma.com/community/plugin/1…

Do you experience feelings of dread in Figma files while working with Variables that should be dead? 💀 If the answer is yes, you might be dealing with Ghost Variables. 👻 🧵 1/6
The article titled "Ghost Variables in Figma" is written. The author is featured as a bitmoji graphic surrounded by ghost graphics. There is spooky smoke coming up from a cauldron with "trick or treat" spelled out in the smoke. The Figma UI right side panel is featured with an arrow pointing from a ghost graphic to the hexagon icon indicating a variable is present.

You'll also find battle-tested pro tips from community Ghostbusters and a small army of powerful plugins to add to your arsenal. 👻 The goal is to find where all your Ghost Variables are hiding so you can exorcise them from your Figma file for good. 🧵 5/6

I've got the new Ghostbusters movie on in the background while I finish up this article I'm writing for my #designsystems blog. 👻 Any guesses what the topic will be? The first few people who guess the right answer will receive some stickers from me!

Today I'm celebrating Persons Day. 🇨🇦 As a Canadian who identifies as a woman, it's important to remember that we've only been included in the definition of a "person" in law for under 100 years. 🤯 I'd love to connect with more Canadian women in tech and creative arts!

If you aren't familiar with the story, in 1927, the "famous five" women from Alberta pushed back on the government definition of "persons" which was used to keep women out of the Canadian senate. 🤓 Learn more: canada.ca/en/women-gender-eq… And yes, trans women are women. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🇨🇦

I’m researching interactive states. Would you recommend other design systems with a published Figma kit (ideally in the Figma community) with Text input components that provide interesting takes on architecting interactive and configurable states. I’ve got 10 audited so far…

Web components are making a lot of buzz in the conference circuit this year...

lea.verou.me/blog/2024/wcs-v… Yes, this perfectly sums up and formulates all the discussion around web components lately, and I love the way it categorizes components by Users vs Authors ratio, aka high reusability vs "only makes sense in this context". Great post @LeaVerouDev

Adding another silly thing to my to-do list for Dec when things are slower...
Luis Camino@luiskamino8 Oct 2024
Everyone I know is baffled by the clumsiness of this update. Anyone not using 16:9 is stuck with thousands of files with ugly thumbnails that you can't update via components because only dumb frames (not instances) can be made thumbnails. 1/2
