Crazy what a few days difference (and Quinn Hughes playing his first game against the Canucks) can make. #Canucks xitter.cf/samlensports/status/21…
Brock Boeser gives a very frustrated interview and calls the Vancouver Canucks “embarrassing” after a 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings:
“It's the same stuff, game after game. I don't know where the disconnect is. If guys in here aren't listening to what the coaches are preaching and our style of play, or some of our structure's not working, or what it is, but it's embarrassing."
Reporter: “What about the fans, when you guys had those three quick shots and they were pretty loud? It was obviously a sarcastic cheer. Just what do you go through on the bench when you hear that?”
Boeser: “I mean, it's embarrassing. We are a way better hockey team than we're playing, and to consistently show up to the rink and be disconnected out there, I mean, we might maybe play as a team, like a five-man unit out there, maybe a period here and there, and I don't know. We showed that we were a better team last year than what we're playing right now.”
Reporter: “The effort though, in many of your games up until tonight, seems like as a group, sure, it wasn't maybe polished for 60 minutes, but it felt like you were a reasonably focused group.”
Boeser: “Yeah, I mean, even in those games, just something still feels off. We're still not generating offense, not getting enough shots, so something's not working. I don't know if guys don't listen, or something in the structure we need to fix, or what it is, but we definitely have a lot better in this room."
Reporter: "Is there something you as a leader on this team can do to change that?"
Boeser: "I mean, you try to talk to guys out there when they make a mistake on what the right play is, but you can only talk to guys so many times about making the right play, and it's just frustrating. Like I said, I know we have a lot better in this room, and I think everyone feels that, so it's hard right now.” #Canucks
Quinn Hughes on his future with the Minnesota Wild and the possibility of signing a contract extension soon:
“I'm where I've always been, and I'm excited right now. My two feet are planted here in Minnesota, and something could happen soon. I'm not really too sure, but I'm really enjoying playing here, and I love playing with Brods [Brodin], Spurgeon, and when Brock [Faber] comes back, there's a lot of things that are set up nicely for me to have success individually and as a team.
I think we got a great team. The first thing is you want to get in the playoffs, but I would think that we have a chance to win this year. And then you see when Hynesy [John Hynes] and Kapy [Danny Kaplan] load us up with Kirill [Kaprizov], Boldy, and [Joel Eriksson] Ek, that's probably the most fun hockey I've ever played. Just playing with those guys and going out there and trying to compete with those guys, make plays. That's really, really fun stuff for me.
So I'm really enjoying it right now and just taking my time, and we'll see where it goes, but I wouldn't be surprised if something happens soon.” #MNWild
Quinn Hughes on what he enjoyed most about playing for the Vancouver Canucks, comparing it to playing for the New York Yankees:
“It kind of just feels like you're playing for the Yankees. The passion in Canada, you don't see that everywhere around the league, and especially in Vancouver, there's no NBA, there's no NFL, there's nothing like that. No MLB, where Toronto has the Jays and the Raptors.
In Vancouver, it's just the Canucks, and that's a special thing, and definitely brings its highs and its lows obviously, with so many eyes on you. But for the most part, I really, really enjoyed that, and just going to the game and seeing the buzz in the city, knowing that that's the only thing going on in the city that night.” #Canucks #MNWild

Turns out I was right. Nikita Kucherov actually has 127 three-point games, not 23 as the @TBLightning and @NHL graphic showed.
The most surprising stat on Nikita Kucherov’s list of Lightning franchise records is that he “only” has 23 three-point games. #GoBolts
@TBLightning @NHL @NHLPR @NHLMedia feel free to clarify, and maybe hire me to avoid future embarrassments like this. #GoBolts nhl.com/stats/skaters?aggreg…
Nikita Kucherov gives the most Nikita Kucherov interview after passing Steven Stamkos to become the Tampa Bay Lightning's all-time points leader:
“That's fine. I mean, we just lost the game. Tough one, I don't even know what to think, but it means a lot. I appreciate everyone who played with me and been a big part of it, and I mean, it just means a lot.”
Gabby Shirley: “You passed Steven Stamkos. He was a great teammate, a great friend. What impact did he have on you?”
Kucherov: “He's been really good on and off the ice, and he's the reason why I have so many points. He's been putting them in the net so many times, and I had such a great time playing with him and having him on the power play. He's been a big part of my success, and can't thank him enough, and just a great guy.”
Reporter: “Where did things kind of just shift in that second and third period? You guys had a pretty strong lead but weren't able to hold on to it.”
Kucherov: “I don't know.” #GoBolts

With an assist on this goal, Nikita Kucherov passes Steven Stamkos to become the Tampa Bay Lightning’s all-time regular-season points leader. He reached 1,138 points in his 890th game, 192 games fewer than Stamkos.
How fitting that the record-breaking point was an assist on a goal scored by Brayden Point. #GoBolts
Brayden Point on Nikita Kucherov becoming the Tampa Bay Lightning's all-time points leader and the impact he's had on his career:
"It took me a second [to realize]. Obviously so happy for Kuch. He works so hard and he leads this team with his work ethic, and he's passed some great players who have played with. To see him work at it and get it, no one's more deserving than he is. He really puts in the work and really happy for him."
Gabby Shirley: “We all know he's a special player. Why is he special to you?”
Point: “Well, we've had a lot of good memories together, in playoffs and in winning. I'm really thankful to have played with him for so long because he's elevated my game and my career. A special player, and just grateful to have played with him.” #GoBolts
Jon Cooper gives a funny answer when asked how Nikita Kucherov has made him a better coach:
“Well, I'm still standing here, and he's probably the reason why I still am. Kuch makes you think. And even as a coach, you think you might be right all the time, and then you have discussions with him and you're thinking, ‘Wow, maybe I'm not right on that one.’
I've been pretty darn fortunate that I've been able to coach him for this long.” #GoBolts
Guess who now has goals in two straight games? 🚨🚨 #TexasHockey
Mikko Rantanen on Wyatt Johnston's scoring slump and why he's confident the young Dallas Stars forward will turn things around:
“Yeah, it happens. I've been in those situations many times, and I'm sure he has too. He's a veteran guy now. I know he's really young, but he's been around for a while, so I'm not worried at all. He just needs one goal, and then it's gonna come. When it pours, it rains. He still makes good plays out there. He has good looks every game, so it's just about getting one bounce, and then he's off to the races. I'm sure about that.” #TexasHockey
Connor McDavid gives a humble answer when asked about his incredible start to the season, crediting his teammates and some fortunate bounces for his success:
“I'm playing with some special players, obviously that helps. I'm playing with Leo [Draisaitl], Podzi [Podkolzin], Bushi [Bouchard], Eki [Ekholm], whoever else is out there. So playing with some really good players. The power play is starting to come along. Getting some bounces too. Pucks are going off me to guys, so that's part of it as well. But definitely been a good stretch, obviously with, as I said, playing with some great players who are playing real well.” #LetsGoOilers
Mikhail Sergachev on how Nikita Kucherov's determination and work ethic during his injury recovery inspired him when he faced his own injury:
“Well, I wasn't even thinking about that back then. I just remember when he got hurt and he was out for like six months. I remember, it was the same thing every day for him, but he was showing up and grinding, and that kind of helped me with my injury when I got hurt, and just showed me the determination and the drive that the guy has. And obviously that's why he's one of the best in the world.” #GoBolts #TusksUp
Mikhail Sergachev on what he learned from playing alongside Nikita Kucherov for seven seasons in Tampa Bay:
“He takes care of his hockey sense. He works on his game, watches clips. He's kind of annoying with it. Like, he's always on the plane, it's a flight back from L.A., four and a half hours. He would be watching clips for four and a half hours and studying the game. So that shows.
And on the ice, he takes care of little details as well. But his drive kind of gets everyone fired up on that [Tampa Bay] team. So yeah, and he's my good friend and a good player, obviously.” #GoBolts #TusksUp
