Mini ice storm up here on the hill in Wolcott, CT! Temp just went above freezing at 32.6 but back untreated roads are still icy! I would say close to 1/4” of ice! Trees bending @JayDobensky @MESNOWman1 @ryanhanrahan @gilsimmons @Ash_Baylor @RachelFrank_CT @JustinNarvik11

Snow starts around 5 PM in Fairfield County, overspreading the rest of the state by 8PM or so. Then snowfall rates pick up quickly. By the News at 10 and 11 we'll be getting some of those 1-2"+/hour snowfall rates. It will get wild with the heaviest overnight into 8 am. #fox61

Made a quick and cheap annotation over my snow map to show the most likely spot in Connecticut to get over 20" of snow. Short-range computer models have zoned in on this spot for several hours of very heavy fluffy snow late tonight & early Thursday. #fox61

Happy Holidays from Brent Hardin and everyone at FOX61 News.
Doesn’t take much with this sludge falling from the sky. Reminds me of the stuff coming down during Halloween nor’easter 2011.
Trees already getting very heavy in Union, CT

Both operational GFS and ECMWF seem to bring a decent tropical system from the MDR (main development region) next week west towards the Lesser Antilles. Yet to be seen what happens from there into to next weekend and beyond. Regardless, this the area to watch into mid month.

In true 2020 fashion, watching the potential for not one but *two* tropical cyclones in the Gulf by Tuesday. Tropical Depression 13 & 14 with names Laura and Marco. #fox61

Computer models in pretty good agreement with heavy rain staying to the west of CT on Tuesday afternoon/evening. We'll still get some soaking downpours in CT but not the bulk of it like eastern PA will be getting. #fox61

Still lots of uncertainty regarding track & intensity (how much interaction w/land vs duration over warm ocean) of #Hurricane #Isaias. Focus is typically on wind & not to diminish that threat, but Isaias heavy rain/flash #flood threat is higher esp in the #NorthEast #MA #RI #CT

This morning's forecast update from the National Hurricane Center (@NHC_Atlantic) keeps southern New England within the potential track area, while timing has been slowed down a bit. Stay tuned for updates here or find the latest at hurricanes.gov 🌀
