Nah, they were out at training for most of the day. They have agreed to reimage a newer model for me to use from next week so they can spend their time cleaning mine. It's a bit toasty!

Picard management tip: "That's the way it's always been" is never an adequate reason to continue doing something.
Regardless of the industry, if the attitude to a complaint about someone's behaviour is "that's just x, they're like that", kick up a stink or leave. This is how culture turns toxic & allows awful people to linger in spaces. It's a weather vane.
