Tanzania and Angola have agreed to link the Indian and Atlantic Oceans by rail, connecting the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA) to Angola’s Benguela Railway through Zambia and the DRC.
— The project will connect Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam port with Angola’s Lobito port, creating a trans-African transport corridor.
— China signed a USD 1.4B agreement in 2025 to modernise TAZARA, while the US and EU are backing the Lobito Corridor.
