The scout film is an underappreciated starting point for successful ERCP.
Before the scope goes in:
– Orient with the gastric bubble
– Use 12th rib to identify T12
- Then position L1–L3 at bottom right of image
– Rule out free air *before* you start and save image

Colorectal cancer is rising in younger adults. That’s why screening now starts at 45. Regular screening can catch polyps and cancer early — often before symptoms develop. If you’re 45+ or have risk factors, talk to your doctor. Early detection saves lives. 💙

The Difficult Colonoscopy is humbling to all endoscopists.
My Pearls :
#1 Female Patients
If hysterectomy or diverticulitis, use pedi colonoscope + water immersion. (Angulated colon)
If chronic idiopathic constipation or visceral obese, use adult colonoscope (redundant colon)

Time to stop lumping together all patients with prior biologic 'exposure'? Our latest work in #JCC
@OUPAcademic
found outcomes of IBD patients with prior biologic intolerance to be better than those with prior failure.

It’s time to stop using pejorative terms like “fatty” and “alcoholic” and defining a disease by what it is not. New nomenclature is here: MASLD, MASH, MetALD!

Just my thoughts during a 15 year career as a teacher, with some dabbling in #MedEd research.
Some GI themes but applicable to all I hope.
