I recently came across data on who we spend our time with over the course of our lives. The insights are simultaneously inspiring and depressing. Here are 6 graphs everyone needs to see:

I hope that we could now all move on. I did not come to Mastodon to hear about #elonmusk, to be honest, neither to hear about Mastodon.

My objective is not to recreate twitter as it is now, to broadcast widely every opinion, but to create a network of challenging knowledge and informed debate.
New ep! w/ @a_vansi The ideology of constant growth destroys the ecological foundations of life, produces alienating ways of living and working, gives rise to undemocratic productive forces, and mismeasures our lives, standing in the way of well-being and equality of all

RT @[email protected] I see quite a lot of #Science posts expressing concern if The Public will follow their authors' #TwitterMigration over on here. Here's the thing: they don't even have to. Every #Mastodon account has an #RSS feed. For example, here's (1/2)

mine: mstdn.social/@rysiek.rss Every hashtag has an RSS feed as well (as seen from a given instance), for example: mstdn.social/tags/Science.rs… Your audiences can follow you without ever setting up an account on fedi, with any RSS reader. mstdn.social/@rysiek/1092888… (2/2)
So what is the evidence that persistent single-digit inflation, even in the 5-9% range, is damaging to the real economy, if it is accommodated? Or is the argument that inflation is never stable in that range? What is the evidence for the latter?

Although Musk etc., long overdue micro-tweaks seem to have improved the user experience on twitter lately. Meanwhile, the mass migration to #mastodon continues.
Replying to @cblatts
@cblatts @bill_easterly @owenbarder there was this interesting community of development bloggers. The comments were real, but respectful debate, mostly. This became more a townsquare with google reader.

Then it went down. Was it the Trump years? The algorithm? Not sure. It is not as rewarding, intellectually challenging anymore.

What will happen with the chief twit? Do we trust him more than Mark? Or Google? Will we get our Townsquare back? Or do we find each other again in a new town in a few years? Or going home again, to substack now? Let'find out. @fp2p

I had enough of the unjustified claims about SoupGate so I wrote a blog post about the empirical evidence behind radical tactics. To summarise: Little evidence that these actions are OVERALL harmful for the climate movement - and they could help too 🧵 jamesozden.substack.com/p/wh…
