Cup o’bacon breakfast. Maria Zoccola rocking the mic with new poems written especially for Gravy & SFA. This is my kind of spiritually uplifting Sunday morning.

n January 2025, I went to Georgetown University to hear Anne Carson. She had students help one of the pieces "happen" and I thought "How cool, that they can say they shared a stage with Anne Carson." Now they can say, "I shared a stage with a Nobel Prize winner."

This is a daunting time but when folks pack the Chicago Cultural Center to hear Dr. Carla Hayden celebrate the power of libraries & free expression, it lightens my heart. So happy to be in the room for (this 1 week ago) as part of Phi Beta Kappa's 250th anniversary celebrations.

Because you needed one last gasp of summer this morning, and/or because you love a good peach: read this sexy-ass poem by Maria Zoccola, which appears in the new issue of Gravy. I'm excited to intro Maria at the upcoming symposium in Memphis this October. mailchi.mp/southernfoodways/…

I know the internet gods are fickle and Google could decide at any moment to derail the train but, for now, Blogger just chugs along. That's my roundabout way of mentioning that I made a 2025 post over on Chicks Dig Poetry~ sbeasley.blogspot.com

Super excited to see the great @FountainBkstore in Richmond, VA, pick Silas House's ALL THESE GHOSTS as their book of the year. Big-hearted poems for the win! Working with Silas was a delight for the whole team at @BlairPublisher, where I'm honored to serve as the poetry editor.

Alice Wong’s legacy is the political horizon she helped articulate: where disabled knowledge is central & care is a shared commitment—She taught us to name grief/rage without collapsing under them, to celebrate disabled brilliance without ignoring material conditions shaping life
