After having a debate a couple of days ago with people claiming Moe doesn't care about Punch or love him anymore, well… THIS happened yesterday!!!!!!! ♥️♥️ And again today!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️ Punch had been attacked, right? Guess who showed up? Moe came over and gently tapped our boy on the head. Punch seemed to know exactly what that little tap meant. Come on, jump on my back, kiddo. Let's go! And that's exactly what he did. Punch climbed aboard, and precious Moe carried him up the stairs on her back. 🥹 Now, tell me she doesn't care about him anymore! You don't always have to be together to have a bond. Sometimes it's about being there when it matters. Moe might give him space, she might tell him off occasionally, but when Punch needs reassurance, she still shows up. Since Ichikawa Zoo reopened, Punch's mounting seems to be everyone's new obsession. And the conversation is overwhelmingly negative. Before making uneducated assumptions, perhaps learn about macaque behaviour! 1. Social play and bonding – sometimes young monkeys misread boundaries. 2. It's breeding season. 3. Punch is male. 4. He's NOT the only one mounting. 5. Mounting isn't automatically sexual or dominance. He's to young!.. 6. Punch gets mounted too. Where's the outrage then? Today's incident didn't justify a 3-against-1 attack. It's genuinely sad seeing adults jump to conclusions instead of educating themselves. How can we expect children to learn when adults refuse to look beyond black-and-white thinking? Educate before you criticise.
