Rome described them as Barbarians. Archaeology tells a different story. They resisted conquest for 10 years. Get the full picture at History Makers. Link in bio. @DrJEBall @sauldavid66 #Archaeology #RomanEmpire #RomanConquest #hispania

An Iron Age tribe that was both so mysterious to us and yet so familiar. On a site where animals were chopped up & buried in strange, hybrid combinations, this dog was special enough to be buried in its own grave, surrounded by offerings #ironage #dogsofX #Archaeology #Ritual

Doing my own thing is a little scary. But I'm passionate about the stories we're telling at history-makers.com & sharing them with people who love history as much as I do. Here's a snippet of a chat about Caesar Augustus with the brilliant @DrJEBall. Do check us out 🙏
Rome’s 1st emperor may have been powerful but he was also deeply superstitious. @DrJEBall explains how 1 ominous bolt ended his campaign in Spain & why Augustus only left the house when it drizzled. Sign up for the full chat history-makers.com #CaesarAugustus #romanconquest
My new venture... sharing stories that promise to inform and bring you new angles and perspectives. This one is led by @MrRobBell and the first couple of short films are being made right now. Follow and support @WeAreHM_ to see what we're up to 😊📽️

We're working with @sauldavid66 to make a film based on his book Devil Dogs, about US Marines in the Pacific in WW2. Saul's powerful retelling of this story uses original letters to explore this brutal campaign in intimate detail #WW2 #secondworldwar #pacificwar #usmarines
So I’ve spent the last year working on a place for the kind of amazing history & archaeology stories that don’t get shown on our tellies quite so much anymore. I’d be eternally grateful if you could follow, like, share, all the things that get you noticed. Thanks so much 🥰
