Robot vs static guide vs dynamic navigation for implant placement.
The first RCTs are in. Robots win on accuracy. But the gap is under 1 mm, and static guides won on speed and early recovery.
What the evidence actually shows 🧵
What seems to matter more is flapless surgery.
Romandini 2022 (meta-analysis): flapless guided surgery gave less angular deviation and less postoperative pain (MD −17 mm VAS).
The tool matters less than whether it lets you skip the flap.
Takeaways:
• Static guides are not obsolete
• Robots make the most sense in complex cases (vital structures, immediate loading, full arch)
• Dynamic nav sits in between, with real-time flexibility

A smile is contagious — in the best way.
Today, pass one on:
to a patient, a colleague, a friend, or someone who needs it more than they show.
Because a healthier community doesn’t start only in clinics.
Sometimes, it starts with one simple smile.

Coffee and dentistry have a more interesting relationship than staining alone. Research highlights effects on restorative color stability, the importance of added sugar, bioactive compounds such as chlorogenic acids, and observational evidence linking coffee consumption with lower oral and pharyngeal cancer risk.

Can probiotics prevent dental caries?
A new 2026 systematic review/meta-analysis of 46 clinical trials suggests a real signal: probiotics can reduce salivary mutans streptococci.
But the clinical story is more cautious than the market hype. 🦷
The Saudi context matters.
National and regional data continue to show a high childhood caries burden, especially in urban cohorts.
If probiotics have a role, it will likely be in targeted high-risk groups — not as a universal prevention shortcut.
Clinical bottom line:
Probiotics may help reduce salivary cariogenic bacteria short-term, especially in selected high-risk children.
But the evidence does not yet support standalone caries prevention claims.
