A significant success. Adler promised to cut permitting delays, but made them worse. Watson promised and actually did it. This cuts the cost to build, adds supply when we need it, and makes government more efficient for taxpayers. Bravo. #ATXcouncil
Over the years, there have been a lot of audits and reports on our City’s notoriously inefficient development review process, but nothing lasting seemed to come of them.  When I first took office 22 months ago, I ordered a deep dive into this broken system and worked immediately to implement the findings and recommendations. We needed to be biased towards action because inaction was causing long and costly delays for housing and critical infrastructure. I’m proud of the work we’ve done to put Affordability First and fix a system that was making it harder and more costly to build more housing. austinmonitor.com/stories/20…

PROOF: Mike Siegel's @MikeSiegelTX largest political contributor is the DSA Public Power PAC Siegel is a lifelong radical socialist whose strongest allegiances are to Democratic Socialists of America, who believe in Abolishing cops, prisons and all misdemeanor crimes Frosty winter edition iceberg of awful ideas that Mike Siegel believes in can be found at: DSAUSA dot org --> click on 'DSA platform'
Anyone in Austin who votes for Mike Siegel @MikeSiegelTX in the Austin City Council race for District 7 is voting for an end to misdemeanor crimes like domestic violence, assault, shoplifting and robbery Mike Siegel's biggest political support in Austin comes from the Democratic Socialists of America The DSA Public Power PAC (located at 6104 Hampton Road in Austin, TX 78723) contributed over $23,000 to Mike Siegel's campaign Anyone who casts their vote for Mike Siegel must understand that his strongest political allegiances are with the DSA, which believes in: - Defunding the police - Releasing all inmates out of prisons / jails now - Your tax dollars will pay for ten year olds to get free gender transition surgery without parental permission - We will finally stop arresting people for committing misdemeanor crimes. - No more punishment for assault, domestic violence, shoplifting, DUI, indecent exposure or robbery - Let the victims cry and suffer - We can use their salty tears to create electrolyte drinks to give to the criminals so they can stay hydrated and fresh to commit more crimes against humanity.

Here are brief highlights from diverse Austin community members—Black, White, Brown, young, old, women, and men—who testified in support of a police contract and our police department. You will hear tragic stories from victims of violent crime and accounts of horrific wait times for police response, all begging our city council to pass a police contract ASAP. Please share this with police officers to show them that the majority of the community supports them and advocates for fair compensation & robust support. This huge turnout of community members is unequivocal evidence that the small number of anti-police, pro-crime activists paid to sow hate, distrust, and chaos do not represent the majority of our community. They were able to gain the support of council members in 2020, which led to the failed defund-the-police policy. We must not let these paid agitators further destroy our public safety again. The next council meeting to vote for the 5-year police contract will be Thursday, October 24. Make sure to either call, email or show up in person to make your voices heard. Let’s finally put the failed public safety policy chapter behind us, once and for all. ✌🏼 —— Your city council who supported the defund-the-police movement in 2020 contributed to the current staffing crisis: Also, those who failed to pass a contract in 2022 led to over 100 additional police resignations: Let’s urge them to learn from their mistakes and do the right thing. @KirkPWatson @RyanAlter @ALTERforATX @paigejellis @LesliePoolATX @chitovela3 @VanessaForATX @joseforatx @NatashaD1atx @CMZoQadri @DeliaGarza @GregCasar —— @KVUE @fox7austin @cbsaustin @KXAN_News @Univision62 @statesman @TelemundoAustin @bgrumet @JenniL_KVUE  @Daraneshatv @byEllaMcCarthy @MaryAnnreports  @Jala__WashTV @AndyMarkMiller @madkisonews @velez_tx

🚨 Big win for public safety! 🚨 Today, I passed a unanimous resolution to explore housing options for our Police, Fire, and EMS cadets. This is a critical step toward addressing our vacancies and supporting those who protect our city. Watch my comments in the video below! ⬇️

I didn’t get elected to have 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 on the Austin City Council—I got elected to do the job my constituents asked me to do and deliver real results for our community. Thanks @cbsaustin & @adelauchida for the interview contrasting myself and my opponent in this race.

I've made a major investment in a PAC supporting the reelection of CM @mkelly007 in the D6 race. CM Kelly has done an outstanding job in office and deserves another 4 years. #txlege

Here is my speech to City Council in support of police contract. My name is Cleo Petricek. I am someone who witnessed my best friend get shot and killed in front of me when I was a teenager in South Dallas. I became a probation officer because of the crime and neglect I saw in our community. Here in Austin, we are facing a severe staffing crisis, and I urge you to not make the same mistake you all made in 2020 and listen to 50 loud anti-police activists, pro crime pro chaos anarchists. As we see evidence nationwide including VP Harris flat out rejection of the defund police, demoralization of police movement You answer to the people raising families in this city, working class folks from all parts of austin in high crime areas, people running businesses with rampant crime; we are trying to survive. For over a year, our officers have been waiting for a new contract. The council’s failure to approve a contract has not only suppressed applicants from wanting to work here but has also increased resignations, with 100 percent certainty more resignations to come if this contract does not pass. These actions have created a significant gap in our staffing levels, and we are now experiencing the consequences of that neglect. I don’t want to hear that Austin is safe when police response times are at unacceptable & unsafe levels, meaning officers are not responding quickly to priority one calls. There was a double homicide two weeks ago in South Austin, and it took over an hour for an officer to respond. Despite multiple 911 calls from different people, it took an hour to get police on the scene. Our city’s safety infrastructure has crumbled. We lack visible police presence around our lake and in our neighborhoods, which contributes to an environment where crime can flourish. Critical units like Violent Crime, Homicides, and even Traffic Units are understaffed. Detectives are overwhelmed, juggling double caseloads while also being pulled to cover patrol shifts. This compromises their ability to provide the focused attention our community deserves in serious investigations. We must understand that this demoralization is not just numbers on a page; it affects the lives of those who serve us. Officers are leaving, and fewer individuals are willing to join the force. The current environment sends a message that being a police officer is undesirable. Instead of virtue signaling about community policing, we need real commitment and support for those who protect us. The time has come for action. We need a stable four-year contract that provides our officers with the assurance they need to serve effectively. This will not only bolster our police force but also restore community trust. We can rebuild a proactive police presence, ensure critical units are fully staffed, and ultimately make Austin a safer place for everyone. Let’s stand together in support of our police and advocate for a contract that prioritizes our community’s safety and well-being. Thank you.

@ALTERforATX said during the city council work session that we need to fix the police academy so recruits don’t drop out during the academy or in their first year. That is not the whole story. Many are not making it through the academy because those who would make great officers are too smart to apply to a city that has made a point of not supporting its officers. As a result, the candidates who do apply may not have been accepted in previous years, but due to our dire hiring situation, we are now accepting cadets who would not have been accepted before. Others are leaving because they are afraid of being prosecuted by @JosePGarza for following their training and having to use force. Some are applying to cities where they will feel supported. This trend will only change when the city council makes more significant changes to how they show support for our officers and when we have a district attorney who isn’t out to get officers doing their jobs and following their training.

Please financially support Mackenzie before the midnight deadline! > Mackenzie4ATX.com
MACKENZIE NEEDS YOUR HELP: Fundraising deadline TONIGHT at 11:59pm! Failed former Austin Mayor Steve Adler and radical former Council Member Jimmy Flannigan recruited Krista Laine, a radical candidate to challenge Mackenzie Kelly (@mkelly007) for re-election. Laine’s campaign is being run by Jim Wick, Adler’s former top aide. Laine has no relevant City of Austin experience, no record of accomplishment, and no policy proposals to improve affordability, protect neighborhoods, improve public safety and more effectively deal with homelessness. Literally none. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Kelly has been the most effective member of the City Council for four years. She is the strongest public safety champion on council. She fights for taxpayers. She fights for accountability and transparency. And she fights for her district. When we have needed her, she has always been there. Now, she needs us. THREE THINGS YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW: 1. Any U.S. resident can donate to her re-election here (secure.anedot.com/mackenzie-…). The maximum per individual is $450 and $900 per couple. There is a key deadline TONIGHT at 11:59pm. 2. Please post a personal message on your socials TODAY asking people to financially support Mackenzie today (Mackenzie4ATX.com). 3. District 6 residents can reserve a yard sign here (docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…). It will be delivered to your house. Thank you! @Cleo_Petricek @SaveAustinNow @SaveATXNowPAC

Travis County DA Jose Garza is a monster.
This was posted by Christina Fultz, daughter of one of Raul Meza’s victims, and I am reposting it here with her permission. Through her words, you can feel the pain that she and her family have had to endure. This is your DA @JosePGarza “standing with victims.” This is the damage which ensues when you have a “bought and paid for” DA who caters to criminals and cares nothing for crime victims and their families. Please share so that this family’s voice can be heard. @Cleo_Petricek @MattMackowiak @bettsforda
