Unite has given social enterprise @GLL_UK a reasonable timeframe to rectify all the issues raised – otherwise strike action remains very much on the cards.

We're proud a core Save Lewisham Libraries activist was involved in the anti-eviction action for Anthony Braithwaite! (William) We all know we're on the same side, and will stand with Anthony every way we can. Solidarity.

#BlackLivesMatter We won't whitewash that this is not a case of standard council failure of the working class, its also anti-black racial discrimination by council & authorities and ableism refusing to consider the needs of autistic children.
Lewisham Council are launching a consultation on our Library Service. We have concerns that the way it is worded may mislead residents into losing crucial parts of the service. And also that others cannot access the consultation at all...

Lewisham Council is threatening up to £500,000 in library cuts.
People are going to need help with education, training, debt and money advice, grants, housing and a whole host of things.
After this cut will libraries still be able to help?

From the core team who worked tirelessly to the hundreds who petitioned and marched to the library staff who had to endure uncertainty... This campaign really did take a village. All worth it. We love our library, we do!

Lewisham is 99% Labour. The experience & approach here is a bloody disgrace, one of the worst, terrible allocation of public funds, out of line with touted national policy of dignity and investment. What do @vickyfoxcroft @elliereeves @JanetDaby have to say about this? THREAD 1/~
Election season is upon us.
Always press candidates to commit their support to #Libraries.
We need the politicians to support and fund libraries
✅ in our communities
✅ in our schools
✅ in our hospitals
✅ in our prisons

performance targets are unrealistic and staff are not given the resources to meet the demands of the job.
We hope if you're reading this you can make tomorrow and bring any banners.
Solidarity with Bromley Library Strikers!

Jobs are being cut and staff are not being paid properly.
The majority of staff – 70% - are on zero hour contracts with some not getting work for weeks on end and others getting only a few hours a week. Based on a survey carried out by Unite, bullying is common, .. #/

GLL were handed the contract to run libraries by Bromley Council but not long after this staff had to go on strike in order to stop GLL cutting jobs. The union and GLL reached an agreement – ensuring that vacant posts would be filled. GLL has gone back on that agreement.
Too much locally it is
#LabourInNameOnly #AusterityLite
We encourage fans of general decency to apply their energy together to change that

Great.
It shouldn't be ignored though that the council in Lewisham is a Labour majority and have undermined their own libraries and staff, left them in a terrible state. The local party who are apparently partnering in this strike fundraiser.
Get your house in order or quit.

It’s absolutely disgraceful that Lewisham is bidding to be Borough of Culture when they’ve got one of the worst library services I’ve ever seen 🤷♀️

So a “ruby in Lewisham’s cultural crown” isn’t their library service but a telephone box full of old books!!!
