Plans by @GovRonDeSantis and his crony NCF President @RichardCorcoran to destroy @NewCollegeofFL are reaching a new low as the state starts bulldozing a protected coastal preserve on campus.
But we can stop them.

In response to calls for an investigation by the State University System's Office of Inspector General, Alexander Tzoumas of New College has doubled down on the admin position that clearing the Uplands Preserve for sports fields preserves its natural beauty and flood control.
On August 28th, New College Of Florida’s president Richard Corcoran held a "Town Hall" with alumni. It was a flop.
Unsurprisingly, he didn't address his administration's violations in the Uplands.

"The image of hundreds of repudiated books in a dumpster seemed to blend the fascist horror of a 1933 book burning with a 21st century dumpster fire meme."

Voices of the Uplands # 5: This episode features NCF faculty and alums Sarah Hernandez, Julie Morris, and David Anderson.
In July, WSLR covered a Celebration of Life for the trees of the Uplands Preserve on NCF's campus. We compiled a series of short videos from it.

Column: #Florida's Duffer-in-Chief @GovRonDeSantis wants to build golf courses, hotels & pickleball courts in state parks, missing the point of parks. My latest for @FLPhoenixNews features shout-outs to Steely Dan, "The Wizard of Oz" and Lord Voldemort. floridaphoenix.com/2024/08/2…
Calling it anything less than fascism is a disservice to future generations.

There is no confusion. People just hate the idea of building golf courses, 350-room motels & pickleball courts in #Florida's state parks. Those don't belong there.
There is A LOT of confusion out there about the 2024-25 Great Outdoors Initiative & our efforts to increase public access, recreation & lodging throughout @FLStateParks. We love #TheRealFlorida as much as you do, so we want to clear some things up…🧵

But it can't be climate change because #Florida legislators cut that out of the law.
The entire state of Florida is under some type of heat alert with heat indices between 105 - 115° right now. This goes beyond "iT's JuSt SuMmEr" and is above average for this time of the year. The backside of #Debby brought very high levels of humidity, making it feel hotter. Stay cool everyone! @WINKNews
