One of my most favourite songs.
Shola aur Shabnam 1961
Khayyam, Kaifi Azmi
Lataji, Rafi.
This movie was one of the very earliest roles for Dharmendra, long before he achieved his "He-Man" status in Bollywood.
Decades later, the song is still widely celebrated by classical enthusiasts as a masterclass in how Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar could match and elevate each other's vocal scales to convey pure longing and vulnerability.
Tarala Mehta is the leading lady opposite Dharmendra.

Passenger - India
CD - Are you from India?
Then congratulations,
You have the world’s best PM.
Modi does not steal from his nation and is not corrupt.
This praise is not coming from an Indian.
It is coming from a citizen of Ghana.

We all know how @INCIndia has used Banks and financial institutions as personal entities and pressured bank employees to extend loans at their whim, bypassing prudent lending norms.
Let me list a few instances.
- In 1957, Haridas Mundra got money from LIC due to influence by the Congress leaders.
- In 1976, Indira Gandhi's government removed SBI Chairman R.K. Talwar after he refused political pressure to relax lending conditions for a company linked to Sanjay Gandhi's circle.
- Sanjay Gandhi pressured the Central Bank of India over loans to Maruti.
- B. Janardhana Poojary, MoS Finance under Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi — pressured bank employees to issue loans in the 1980s.
- Pawan Kumar Bansal, as a minister in the UPA, pressured Canara Bank to give loans to his family-linked businesses.
The IDBI Bank was handed over to us in poor shape, as IDBI itself was forced to lend to large business groups with close connections to @INCIndia leaders such as Videocon, Winsome, ABG Shipyard, Kingfisher, etc. These turned into bad loans, causing huge losses for IDBI Bank, which we recognised.
The NDA govt led by Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi revived the IDBI bank through professionalism, prudence and recapitalisation of more than Rs 25,000 crores. The IDBI Bank is now poised for its next phase of growth.
All due process has been followed in the IDBI Bank strategic restructuring, and we have already clarified this yesterday.

Many more instances of blatant scams and economic mismanagement have been covered in the White Paper on the Indian Economy released in February 2024. It remains relevant even now.

Your lies with respect to Rafale had failed and were exposed. You had to apologise. The same will happen here.
Congress-era banking had a phonebook for the powerful and a rulebook for the common citizens.
The era of 'connection and setting banking' is over.
Common people now have easy access to loans, and employees are not under pressure to extend loans over the phone calls.

Music diaries: Birth anniversary: Anjaan
There are songs, and then there are songs. Poetry sung, composed, lived on the screen.
Tujh bin jogan meri raatein,
Tujh bin mere din banjaare.
Just two lines that made me stop in my tracks, spellbound. Simply said. No fancy words, yet straight from the heart.
A lonliness poetically told that it hurts.
Probably the only two lines that ever made me seek out a song, and then the movie. For once, a song led me to a film.
“O Saathi Re” from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Composed by Kalyanji–Anandji. Kishore da’s voice carries a certain angst, the intimacy of a confession.
On screen, the words come alive-but it is Anjaan’s mighty pen that gives them life.
Remembering him today, with these two lines still lingering.
Take a listen.

Waqt remains, for me, one of the finest films ever made and perhaps B.R. Chopra’s magnum opus. Every actor was in top gear. Shashi Kapoor was never more devastatingly handsome, while Sharmila Tagore exuded coyness and grace. Raj Kumar, with his trademark aristocratic swagger and imperious dialogue delivery, was in a league of his own. Sunil Dutt and the gorgeous Sadhana made an unforgettable romantic pair.
But the film’s beating heart was Balraj Sahni, whose portrayal of a father crushed by fate was truly heartbreaking. Ravi’s memorable music and Yash Chopra’s assured direction completed this cinematic masterpiece, which ruled the box office in 1965.

Achala sachdev's expressions of coyness in this song from Waqt is legendary. There's something wonderfully natural about her performance as Balraj Sahni serenades her with warmth and admiration. Achala responds with expressions that are tender , graceful and delightfully spontaneous.
Composed by Ravi who adapted it from a composition by Afghan painter, poet, and musician Abdul Ghafoor Breshna.
Lyrics Sahir.
This song stood out as a massive, cheerful, romantic solo hit in Mannadey 's career.
Directed by Yash Chopra.

It is unfair to blame CM Vijay for one prison escape!
Prison escapes are nothing new in India. They have happened under different governments in many states over the years.
Even Tihar Jail, one of the country’s highest-security prisons, has seen several escapes. Charles Sobhraj walked out in 1986 after drugging the guards. Sher Singh Rana escaped in 2004 by posing as a police officer. Two undertrials scaled walls and dug a tunnel to get out in 2015.
Bigger breaks have also taken place elsewhere. In 1995, 43 LTTE suspects escaped from Vellore Fort through a long tunnel. In 2005, hundreds of prisoners were freed during the Jehanabad jailbreak in Bihar. NCRB data shows prisoners escape from jails every year across the country.
In the recent Theni sub-jail incident, 17 inmates escaped after overpowering guards, but most of them were recaptured within hours. One isolated event does not mean law and order has collapsed in Tamil Nadu.
DMK is simply using this to attack CM Vijay because they have no real answer for their own defeat. The people of Tamil Nadu are watching who is working and who is only shouting.
I feel it is unfair to blame CM Vijay for one jail escape! @CMOTamilnadu @TVKVijayHQ
“If we had killed him (CM Vijay) in Karur that day, we would not be in this situation today.” DMK councillor Saravanan arrested over his controversial remark on the Karur stampede. The remark came as former minister Anbil Mahesh was being taken away.

Seeman said, "Rajinikanth was deeply disappointed by the election results."
Isn't it obvious?
His critic response to Aadhav Arjuna: "time does not speak, but it waits and gives answer".
He is personally meeting anyone who bashes CM Vijay, such as YouTuber Jeeva, Maridhas, Seeman, and Stalin.
Why is there such deep-seated 'vanmam' against CM Vijay?
Is it is because the one who succeeded Rajini in cinema has now succeeded him in politics - entering and becoming the CM in his maiden election when he couldn't even take the first step?
