The study out of South Korea analysed 4 different types of straw and found plastic to have the least environmental impact in 10 of the 16 categories measured
Meanwhile paper straws were found to generate over six times more carcinogens than standard plastic, along with double the impact on environmental acidification

• Nigel Farage has said candidates for Reform UK will not be prevented from standing if they like social media posts by Tommy Robinson.
• Speaking on Radio 4’s Today programme, the Reform leader said: “I wouldn’t ban anybody for liking someone like Tommy Robinson. Wouldn’t be my cup of tea, but I wouldn’t ban anybody from doing so.”
• He added that he does not want the party to get into a world of cancel culture, though he would act if someone supported something outright wrong.
• Farage said any response would depend on the specific post. “I’m not going to run a party where we say ‘you can’t talk about that person or that person.’ We have to be sensible about vetting, and we are.”
• Farage claimed the party vets its council candidates to a much higher level than any other political party.
