New study finds that the loss of Great Salt Lake could reduce local precipitation by ~50%.
We need to stop talking about lake evaporation as a "loss" or "water use". It is the source of our rain and snow.

"The key difference between a grenade thrower and someone who gets stuff done is the willingness to meet people where they are."
I'm so grateful for our members of the #utleg who take the time to educate and listen.

How are we going to get water to Great Salt Lake? @ASU's @rhett_larson has three water security rules that can help.
Like balancing a budget, we should start with living within our means.

Important paper by @BYU professor Rachel Wood on the ecosystem services provided by Great Salt Lake's wetlands.
We manage wetlands for birds and water, but they also remove pollutants to help keep our water clean and our communities healthy.

After the most epic snowmelt ever, the Great Salt Lake appears to have stopped rising.
It's a tale of two lakes though.
The south arm is up 5', almost as high as it was in 2020.
The north arm is already headed toward a record low.
We've got a shot at saving the lake.

Is 1.5C above pre-industrial safe enough?
No.
We need climate restoration.
I'd love to hear your criticisms of our new perspective piece out today in @PLOSClimate.
