🚨What if we could reliably program macrophage polarization state?🚨
biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…
Macrophages are highly plastic immune cells that perform critical functions by polarizing into distinct cellular states. The polarization state of macrophages can substantially influences the progression of cancers, infections, and autoimmunity. (1/11)

PSA: get your flu shot now if you haven't already
Using last year's flu trends as a template, from today we expect infection rates to double every 1.5 weeks, peaking ~2 months from now.
After vax, immunity takes 1.5 weeks to kick in, peaks at 1-2 months, decays after 3 months.

As an Editor, in past ~6mo, we are receiving an avalanche of unsolicited review articles (“scoping” “systematic”, narrative, NOS) on topics and ?s NO ONE EVER has asked and clearly with heavy AI lift. Even the cover letters all read the same…alarming and sad. #publishing

1. COMBINATORIAL STOICHIOMETRY: Regulators do not act alone, there is redundancy, competition, synergy & feedback. Knocking them down one by one is insufficient to learn the spectrum of regulatory effects (which is essential to generalize). 2/

Exciting news! Our team was selected to receive the @NIH Director's Pioneer Award!
Our project asks: can we make a tool to perturb & map proteome function at scale, to do “do for proteins what CRISPR has done for genes"?
The NIH Director’s High-Risk, High-Reward Research Awards empower innovative scientists redefining the limits of biomedical and behavioral research.
Meet the 2026 recipients of the NIH Director’s Pioneer, New Innovator, and Transformative Research Awards and discover the groundbreaking research they’re pursuing: go.nih.gov/BxJzhAG

getting old is insane. we found out last week my grandpa has cancer and the doctor was just like "he's 90 years old, he says it's not bothering him, we're just gonna leave it be, otherwise we'd make him miserable" and like. yeah he's kinda right
