Sunday dinners have all but disappeared as our grandmothers grew older or passed away. Silent generation black women maintained this labor alone. Unsustainable. Stop being nostalgic, niggaz probably been at more Sunday brunches than Sunday dinners now.
& this is why I don’t fucking like you ppl. There is a whole ICONIC MOVIE, called SOUL FOOD, that is centered on the tradition of BLACK AMERICA, SUNDAY DINNER culture. & it started during slavery, on the only day (some) Black Americans were allowed to rest & WORSHIP, where we went to church as a family, & came home turned scraps into a feast for our families. To this very day, Sunday dinners are the backbone of Black American families.

Patriarchy disguised as protecting black men will truly be the death of us

This is what frustrates me the most 😭. Continued allegiance to the patriarchy and what it means to be a traditional man is fucking us all the way up! It's gonna require a lot of mental dismantling of these ideals in both genders if we actually want to get somewhere

I’ll never forget being there in a club house room and hearing Africans laughing with Arabs about black Americans. Arabs! Very eye opening.
Cuz that’s how they were raised to think of us. We can reject xenophobia and still be real about how they are socialized to view African Americans. To the point where they try to use it as bond-forming with honkeys. Learning that fucked me up 💀

I have a controversial take people not ready for. A lof of people under the age of 35ish (me included) don't have enough knowledge or respect for older eras of music and their modern nominations for "bibles" or "classics" reflect that.
Anyone who thinks SZA is a “R&B Bible” but has a “controversial”, assumedly derogatory take on Epic R&B artists that include Sly, Shuggie Otis, O’Jays, Bill Paul, Harold Melvin and by mid-70s, Isleys, Labelle, Minnie Riperton, yea you can keep it

This story is wild this African man was caught and sold into slavery trying to sell other Africans. He finds a way back home, and you would think he would stop selling slaves having seen its brutality, he continued. Yes he was part of one of the Abrahamic blood money cults.

Do you think the black community will hold the BM who called the police on this black mother, terrifying her child and putting her family’s safety at risk accountable? Will he even be shamed? Probably not. It was da white man. It was!

In REAL life, people SPECIFICALLY target Bw for all types of abuse and harm. We need to remove that word “nice” from our vocabulary NOW!!

Ugly but real. If you want to talk about who "sold" r&b and hip hop, the call is coming from inside the house.

Anybody paying attention to the details of African American history and “genealogy” wouldn’t deny longstanding Caribbean migration patterns and cultural melding.

Exactly! People keep bringing up Prince’s “mentorship” as a rebuttal but Prince was most likely trying to smash…lol Funny 90% of his mentees were attractive women in the same racially ambiguous font… 🤔😂

Being from America doesn’t stop you from having Canadian ears. It’s over. Your ears are gentrified. They’re building a BC Starbucks inside your canal right now

We’re literally in a state of emergency. I’ve always maintained black women in America would be living like the Muslim women in Africa and Afghanistan, if they somehow got a semblance of power. Seeing the way they talk about black women (i.e. Meg) is SCARY.
