Here's the thing about Scotland. They aren't very good (tiny nation). Almost certainly going out in the next round. But THEIR FANS DON'T CARE! They'll turn up, drink the bar dry, sing, and charm the locals. That's what being a fan means. Best supporters in the world.

Awarding the WC to countries with zero football culture, turning it into a game of 4 quarters to sell ads, not allowing Spanish answers in interviews, brown paper bag shortages in host cities 馃ぃ,ridiculous "peace prize" etc. etc. Fans: "FIFA ARE RUINING OUR GAME!!!!*

Going after City for financial irregularities. Same fans: "FIFA is the greatest justice organization since the founding of the Hague. Their impartially cannot be questioned. City should be disbanded and the players heads displayed on Traitors Gate" pick a damn side people.

What I would really like to see from this WC. American fans coming up with some organic chants. England has thousands. Point a camera at US fans and you get "USA! USA! USA!", or "I believe that we will win!". Enter the banter arena my American friends!

It's that wonderful time where every 4 years twitter piles on @AlexiLalas . Don't forget to mention his hair color because ad hominem attacks and casual racism won't maintain themselves. I dare those who do this to criticize another pundit and always mention their skin color.

Manchester City don't win silverware while Oasis are together. Apparently it's one or the other. 馃し馃徎

30 years ago today, Eric Cantona actually tried to kick racism out of football.

An, on the face of it, non-soccer related thread: A woman is boxing at the olympics who has naturally elevated testosterone levels and, allegedly, a Y chromosome. This is not as uncommon as you'd think. Some people are clutching their pearls and calling her a man. Saying it

"DNA sample for a Government held database". Again, and we're as shocked as anyone else here, for some the rush to signal how offended you are about something that isn't true has over-ridden the facts, the big picture, and basic human logic. What a time to be alive!

To any MLS owners, fans, franchises, or enablers, who's timeline is suddenly flooded with Rugby content: a message. Ignore it. You won't like it. Nothing to see here, just move along. This isn't your next investment opportunity. Shoo! Go about your soccer business. 馃ぃ

Over the past decade there is something in the local soccer landscape worth noticing. We have had: Multiple clubs. Too many leagues to count. A thousand supporters groups try to be "overnight ultras". People actively try to put other clubs out of business.

A taxpayer funded stadium plan approved. More claims to be a soccer state than actual games to watch. And in all this time, in all this manufactured and parochial drama, there has been one consistent. Not only has @OklahomaCityFC played every season, the @WPSL has been

run and headquartered out of OKC. The league is owned and based here. Anyone looking to support, maintain, or grow local soccer could do worse than watching them and following their lead. Just an observation. 馃し

4 in a row is a phenomenal achievement. That being said, it's not great for football as a concept. Even if it's your team, total dominance can get boring. I kind of miss the days when City were the plucky underdog. 馃し

Cue the VAR screamers, the Chelsea "your oil money is worse than our oligarch money" fans, the "our investor is from a place where they make good food" fans, "what about the financial investigation" tweets, etc, etc, etc.

With 2 years until the WC are people starting to worry there won't be enough money crumbs fall from the USSF/MLS table? Certainly not enough that successful community focused clubs might be able to get a sniff. 馃惤
