Sony Pictures is disappointed over losing Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" sequel centered on Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth. Netflix is behind the movie. "David Fincher is exclusive to Netflix. We were going to make the movie when Quentin [Tarantino] was directing it, but he decided that he didn’t want to do it and changed course," says Sony Pictures boss Tom Rothman. A24's #TheInvite is a lot of fun! The cast (Rogen, Wilde, Cruz, Norton) has terrific chemistry, the dialogue is sharp and funny, and Olivia Wilde directs blocking akin to a stage play in the cramped San Fran apartment. Rogen and Wilde have full arcs. Looks gorgeous; shot on film.

I wonder if FRANKENSTEIN: THE REBORN CUT will be in black-and-white like the extended director’s cut of MIDNIGHT ALLEY. This announcement doesn’t top The Complete Kubrick 4K set slated for October. I’m still holding out hope for both movie versions of CAPE FEAR.

Another Robert Eggers Christmas! I am a little worried. The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman were all unique from each other, but this feels like it's doing Nosferatu again, which I really enjoyed, but I don't want the same movie again.

#ToyStory5 is a glorious return to form for the franchise! Far better than the 4th; it retroactively fixes its issues. Super funny, insanely resonant, gorgeous animation, uses spherical cinematography again, great character moments. Cried five times. A treat for the true fans.

#DisclosureDay has all the Steven Spielberg-isms you’d expect: a schmaltzy John Williams score, masterful blocking, dynamic camera movement, heightened performances, and a gripping climax (not what follows). It can feel a bit familiar; I enjoyed it well enough. Watched in @IMAX.
