If you’re wondering why the Bengals are getting to use Real Madrid’s famous home dressing room at the Bernabéu on Sunday when the Falcons are supposed to be the "home" team, it basically comes down to the NFL keeping things fair on road trips. 🏟️🇪🇸 Whenever the league plays in Europe, they split the best perks in the city between the two teams: 1. The Falcons got the better training ground all week. Because Atlanta is the official home team (which also gives them first pick on jerseys, coin toss rules, and stadium branding), they got set up at Ciudad Real Madrid—Real Madrid’s massive, top-of-the-line training complex—for their whole week of prep. Meanwhile, Cincy had to travel out to the Spanish national team's facility instead. 2. The Bengals got the Sunday locker room trade-off. To make up for Atlanta getting Real Madrid's training HQ all week, the league gave the Bengals Real Madrid’s home locker room for gameday—so Cincy’s guys get the novelty of using Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid's actual stalls. 3. Both setups are identical anyway. Unlike old-school NFL stadiums where the visitors get stuck in a cramped broom closet, soccer locker rooms only hold about 25 players. NFL teams bring over 70 players plus 100+ coaches and staff (Cincy brought over 200 people and a ton of extra gear alone). Because of that, the Bernabéu opens up huge extra rooms and custom partitions on both sides, so the Falcons' setup has the exact same space and facilities as the Bengals'.
