There are people in this country
Who work hard every day
But not for fame or fortune do they strive
But the fruits of their labor
Are worth more than their pay
Much said on this site about Schmitt and the friend / enemy distinction
Not enough said aboit the winner / looser dynamic
Kent, Pratt, Fishback, Romney....these guys are loosers, ask them for advice on loosing elections, not winning them
As recently as 10-20 years ago, coastal journos refered to America's favorite genre as "Country and Western" or "Country Western"
It was archaic & anachronistic, but refered to competition between the Nashville sound & Bakersfield/Austin
It's called Country now
Nashville Won.
Counterpoint: the Philistines
This scapegoating ethno-fetishism on the Right in the aftermath of the midterms is repugnant. It reflects an intellectual weakness at odds with American ideals, dressed up as political sophistication. Demographics weren't destiny in 2024, but now that the GOP took some massive Ls, apparently monocausal explanations for what are really a whole host of policy failures are once again in vogue.
Human action cannot be reduced to geography and blood; neither offers a sufficient basis for understanding politics or making political decisions. Reducing politics to these forces amounts to embracing Machiavellian means for Darwinian ends.

Congrats to Jace, rare flip in this othewise bloodbath of an election.
Shows that discipline and candidate quality matter.
Victory!
To the people of #TX32: THANK YOU for putting your trust in me to be your next Congressman!
Ours was one of only a handful of Republican pickups on a tough night across the country. That is a testament to the dedication and the incredibly hard work our volunteers and supporters put in on this campaign.
My mission in Washington is to continue to earn your trust and make you proud.
This victory belongs to you!
Yours in the fight,
Jace.
Folks, Greg Abbott did this to himself. He begged the tech companies to come to Texas, and he had them bring their H1b employees, most of which are from India. 70 to 80 percent vote democrat.
He pleased big business and got himself voted out.
Did you ever wonder why the US Border Patrol was not mass deporting illegal aliens out of Houston or Dallas wholesale?
His chickens have come home to roost.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
H-1B holders cannot vote; only U.S. citizens can. Indians face long green card waits (often 10+ years) then 5 more for citizenship. ~228k Indian American eligible voters in TX lean Dem, small vs ~700k margin. Latino voter shifts were larger drivers.

The Catholic/Hindu alliance turned Texas blue
Texas weathered the border invision of Catholic illegals aided by Catholic Charities, and could have resisted the hordes of Hindu H1bs brought in by fortune 500s, but it wasn't strong enough to resist both.

Let me just put all the conspiracies about the plane crash to rest.
It was a female pilot.
Suicide crisis: drinking
Multiple divorces: drinking
Arrest: drinking
Adultery: drinking
Obesity: drinking
Over my nearly three decades in the Army, the biggest career killer I’ve seen is alcohol.
One of my best got caught up in an alcohol-related incident this weekend and has a lot to lose.
Unfortunately, he is now in a non-negotiable situation and going to get crushed.
I’m not against having a good time and drinking, but the earlier in life you figure out that drinking is like walking a tightrope, the better off you’ll be.
Female pilot
Today's plane crash in Palm Beach County, Florida is a horrific tragedy
Here's what we know:
- At 12:50 PM ET, a Learjet 60 crashed in a neighborhood near Cresthaven, FL
- All 9 people on board were killed
- The aircraft departed from Austin, Texas, and was headed to the Bahamas
- The FAA is sending a team to the scene to support the @NTSB's investigation
Please join me in praying for the families and loved ones of those we lost — @FAANews & @USDOT are closely monitoring this crash and will share updates as we learn more
Trump won. We don't have to do this.

Breaking and very sad news -- Sen. Chris Murphy is hospitalized following a stroke, an aide to the Connecticut Democrat confirmed Sunday.
His staff began notifying people Saturday afternoon of the hospitalization and stroke, a person told POLITICO at the time.
“Yesterday afternoon, Senator Murphy started experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son’s hockey game. He was taken to a local hospital, where it was discovered he had experienced a stroke,” Allison Herwitt, Murphy’s chief of staff, said in a statement.
“He was transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring and is responding well to treatment. The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery,” she added.
Murphy, who is viewed as a potential 2028 White House candidate, has been traveling the country to campaign for candidates, including recent stops in Michigan, Minnesota and Florida. He had been previously scheduled to attend campaign events in New Hampshire on Sunday.
