Replying to @SpotASharkUSA
@SpotASharkUSA featured shark Claud was named after Claud Hull, one of the first SCUBA divers off the NC coast who helped locate many wreck sites sand tigers are known to visit. Claud the sand tiger shark has scars that make him easy to recognize along with his beautiful spots!

I love finding box turtles in the yard! I've seen both of these before - the one on the left just since 2022, but the one on the right since 2015! (ID by shell pattern) 🐢👍😍
Thanking the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ SAFE Sharks and Rays for the Spot a Shark shout out! We can’t do our research without our great dive community!

While they may look intimidating, the endangered Ozark hellbender is a gentle giant. These aquatic salamanders require cool, clean streams & rivers with large rocks. You can help protect hellbenders by leaving rocks where they are - don't stack or move them.

Ay, the turtles are out:
🐢 Stop to move them only if you can SAFELY PULL ENTIRELY OFF THE ROAD.
🐢 Grasp the shell firmly.
DO NOT fumble the turtle.
🐢 Move the turtle off the road in the direction it was already heading.
🐢 Then go back to minding your own business.
When your job is spying on sharks…. Really glad to have the @exploreorg camera back up at Frying Pan Tower. Only one sand tiger but check out these sharks. What species do you think?

Sometimes it's hard to be a serious and professional science agency when amphibians like the northern red salamander exist. Our first caption was, "LOOK AT THIS PERFECT SMOL NUGGET! HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING MORE PERFECT IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE?! LOOK AT THEM DO THEIR PUSHY UPPIES!
