The most disturbing thing about the Tories voting to keep the poorest school kids hungry during half term is that it’s not for any beneficial reason. They CAN afford to feed them. It’s purely about cruelty and punishing them for being poor. This is who they are

I cannot describe how sick to my stomach this makes me. I know for a fact that I would not have healthily got through school without free school meals. I’m deeply saddened, and ashamed of this Tory government. SHAME. ON. YOU.

Rishi Sunak spent £500m on the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme. It costs around £20m to provide free school meals for a week. There is money for half-price Nando's but there's no money to feed children?
