This June the MSI crew got to work and deployed gls tags on common murre chicks
The hope is to gather information on where they go post fledging and better understand their spatio-temporal movements from fledging to maturity!

So happy to see this work out in @PNASNews, the result of 10 years of collaboration between @ARCTOX_ and @SeatrackScience and many great international collaborators. #seabirds as bioindicators of #mercury distribution in the North Atlantic #Arctic.
Researchers examined feathers and tracking data from 837 seabirds across the North Atlantic and Atlantic Arctic, finding an east-west gradient of mercury concentrations. The toxin was highest in southern Greenland and the east coast of Canada. In PNAS: ow.ly/W0Ox50RIZmP
New paper by @Albert_CelineC & colleagues uses seabirds (@SeatrackScience tracking data + @ARCTOX_ feathers 🪶Hg analyses) to map Hg contamination across the North Atlantic Arctic 🌊
