Last year, Kay “Kate” Shemirani murdered my sister, her own daughter, Paloma.
Paloma was 23. She died from a totally curable cancer, 7 months after mistakenly putting her life in Kay’s hands. Kay was physically beating her until the week she died.

I read Artem Chapeye’s 2021 dystopian novel and visited the island in Kyiv, Ukraine where it’s set. Here are my thoughts.

you know you’re deep in the end of The End of History once the usually soppy tube quotes have switched to preaching Realism to the masses.

Contemporary historians focus too much on what is measurable (trade, treaties) and not enough on what is foundational (national psyches, network efficiency).

A Stanford economist studied over 100 years of data on your working week.
Your output has a ceiling and most people hit it far earlier than they realise.
There is also one big catch, though.

“You’d think Heidegger and Ayatollah Khomeini don’t overlap, but they both agreed that the US and the USSR were material-only civilisations that would crumble unless they found deeper values.”

"A threat to democracy and our wellbeing" - are we in the age of misinformation?
How damaging can it be?
I've spoken with @SebastianShemi, after his own family experienced tragedy due to medical conspiracy theories.

Congratulations to you. Children are innocent and lovable. Those 168 children that your boss killed in the school in Minab, and you justified, were also children. When you kiss your baby, think of the mothers of those children.
On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love. 💕
She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.
Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy - I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.🙏

If political violence isn't the answer, why did the US assassinate Irans leaders? 🤔

Satellite images from March 28 show destroyed pistachio warehouses near Rafsanjan Airport in Kerman—the heart of #Iran’s pistachio industry. Iran was once the world’s largest pistachio exporter, but years of trade embargoes have allowed the US to cut into its market share. The choice of target in Rafsanjan points to a deliberate economic strategy.

Sharif University is Iran’s MIT. They’ve produced a huge number of engineers who’ve gone on to Silicon Valley and founded some of the most successful American tech companies.
Why are we bombing a university in a city of 10 million people?
Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, one of Iran’s top science and engineering institutions, was bombed tonight, and a number of schools reportedly damaged.
Founded in 1966 (as Aryamehr University), Sharif is a cornerstone of Iran’s scientific and academic life.
Striking and destroying universities and schools is not just an attack on buildings,it is an attack on a country’s future.

Insane that the names of many of these people were given to the US, likely by the IAEA, as a result of the JCPOA.
Why on earth would any sensible country on earth negotiate with the US in good faith again? Or not develop their own nukes?
Westerners will look you dead in the eyes and tell you they’re not religious, then sign up for this.
