Also keep in mind that the far-right in Canada is similarly trying to rehabilitate imperialists, enslavers, and genociders with deranged kids content. Like this little book, by Lindsay Shepherd, wherein the ghost of John A. Macdonald explains to some kid all the evils of woke.
Keep in mind that Christopher Columbus was a human trafficker (including of children sold into sexual slavery) who's cruelty was so abhorrent (even for the time) that he was eventually imprisoned for it

Trump’s #AlligatorAlcatraz is on Miccosukee land. During World War II most Japanese internment camps were on reservations. Ppl have a hard time seeing tribal sovereignty as relevant to other social issues, but it’s all connected.

In 2005, Canada became the fourth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. The process to get the landmark Act passed included calls for boycotts of Famous Players, lots of debates and speeches. This is the story. 🧵 1/14

An Indigenous Amazonian community in Peru has seized control of the Norperuvian Pipeline and Station 5, operated by Petroperú. The Awajún are protesting repeated oil spills that have poisoned their rivers. They demand urgent aid, as no compensation has been provided.

Libertarians took over a town in New Hampshire. They gutted the government, slashing every “wasteful” service. Including garbage pickup. Due to this, the town was soon overrun by bears. The libertarians fled. That failed experiment is now happening on a national scale.

We went from “what good are the humanities?” to “suddenly, no one can read” in about a year, and the answer to the first question is the disinformation and lack of critical thinking you see all around you. *That* is why you need the humanities. This is what they prevent.

In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%. While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired. Let's learn more. 🧵1/10

URGENT: The human cost of mining in Ecuador is much higher than you think 💔 In my latest investigation via @ricochet_en we reveal how Canadian mining companies are exploiting rural Ecuadorian communities, all while a new free trade deal claims to protect human rights. My team traveled to Las Pampas, where we met Juan Carlos Carvajal Silva, who has faced kidnapping and death threats for defending his community’s water and land. We also spoke with Mesías Masapanta, who was shot in the face by military forces during protests and now lives with permanent disfigurement, unable to work or support his family. “They don’t want me to speak, nor do they want me to give my version,” Masapanta told us. “They said that I am like this because I have fallen, I have stumbled, but I did not fall. It was the bullets.” Over 100 farmers and families face terrorism charges simply for protecting their ancestral lands and water sources. This is the third part of our Ecuador series. Read the full story and share widely at the link below. These voices deserve to be heard. ricochet.media/indigenous/br… #IndigenousRights #ClimateJustice #Ecuador #HumanRights #Journalism #InvestigativeJournalism

Covid depletes cells that are key to the immune system and getting covid regularly means you'll be sick more often and this will not strengthen your immune system it will progressively weaken it and you'll end up dying younger. You were lied to because you had to get back to work

Not only did the Haka suspended New Zealand’s Parliament so the bill couldn’t be passed, several non-Māori parties stood up in respect for the Haka throughout the entire ordeal. The protest achieved exactly what it was intended to achieve and it was brilliant.
