Cannot believe that in my lifetime the Democrats are embracing Federalism and state's rights over federal control
🚨 BREAKING: Texas Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa fires back at Donald Trump following his warning about what would happen if she attempts to reopen the southern border. “You cannot tell me what to do in my state. I am a Democratic governor, and I know what is best for my people. I have the interests of all Texans at heart, and I will do everything possible to be the best governor for this state. Texas is our home, and we will work to make it a peaceful place for everyone.” Yesterday, Gina Hinojosa said her administration would work for ALL Texans, not just those who voted for her. She also outlined the next steps as she prepares to take over the governor’s office. During her first press conference, she introduced her bipartisan transition team and explained what Texans should expect from her incoming administration. Among the transition team members is Ernest Bailes, a former Republican state representative who opposed Governor Greg Abbott’s school voucher plan. Hinojosa says she intends to represent the entire state, regardless of political affiliation, and work for both Democrats and Republicans. “I will work for all Texans, irrespective of their political party, whether Democrats or Republicans. We all call Texas home.”

CVS stores are perpetually empty. The pharmacy holds up the garbage that sits on the shelves and never sells.
CVS CEO David Joyner just said on CNBC that the Break Up Big Medicine legislation by @SenWarren and Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) is one reason he is breaking up his company.

how could anyone who works in tech be this stupid treat your work laptop like a pure unspoiled virgin
Binance published the postmortem on its $6.34 billion hack. It started in June. An engineer searched for an AI coding tool. Downloaded a tampered Homebrew installer. Binance caught it. Replaced the laptop. Rotated the credentials. But the attackers had already learned who worked on the wallet team. September. A second engineer gets approached on a real job platform. By someone posing as a project director. Live video interview with "HR". Then a take-home assignment. Downloaded onto a work laptop. The assignment swapped pyenv for a malicious copy. Binance's security tools didn't flag it. October 20. The attacker used that machine and Binance's own internal AI tool to reach two more wallet engineers. One had a container deployment token sitting on his laptop. October 29. Container deployed. Signing service reached. Funds started leaving at 20:05 UTC. Binance suspended withdrawals. The money kept leaving. The attacker had already authorized his own contract on the hot wallet, on-chain. Halting withdrawals didn't touch it. Revoking it was harder. The wallet uses MPC. No single private key exists to sign the revoke. So Binance had to design a revoke procedure while the funds were still moving. The last stolen ETH left almost four hours after the first transfer. The security model designed so no one person could steal the keys. Also meant no one person could stop it. Binance says it recovered about 2.85 billion. And put aside enough to cover the rest. The FBI says North Korea did it. Five months of recruiting, interviewing and waiting. The most expensive take-home assignment ever submitted.

NYRR says to use the portable toilets for the marathon. They had hundreds for the race. They were in the corrals right before you head off to the start line. They warn you that you can be banned for doing it in the street. Some guy peeing on I-278 about 2 miles in People dumb

I don't know why, but when i did this walk for the first time after the NYC Marathon last year I thought of the Bataan Death March from WW2

Craziest thing about the NYC Marathon is there are three groups that run different routes and they all equal the same distance. I call this the great merge where the pink group joins blue and orange on 4th ave in Brooklyn. We ran a mile on I-278

The emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and other kingdoms were also elected. GL didn't make this up
One very strange thing about Star Wars politics: “Queen” Amidala is supposedly democratically elected. I suppose Lucas liked the optics of royalty but didn’t want to show a good hereditary monarch. But that raises an interesting question, why the hell would Naboo CHOOSE to elect a 13 year old? Have you met one?

This is a crazy comparison! RIGHT: Pillar 43 at Göbekli Tepe - 11,000 years old. LEFT: A rock painting in Arnhem Land, northern Australia - potentially 20,000 years old. Credit to @GenomicSETI for finding this.

The joys of living in a dense walkable 15 minute city
“A kid-hating crone has turned a luxury Upper East Side building into a living hell for her upstairs neighbors — driving at least three families out of their apartments all while racking up nearly $88,000 in unpaid rent, a new lawsuit claims. Anne Stockton, 72, is being sued by the owner of 85 East End Avenue for allegedly tormenting the family of five currently living in the unit directly above her cushy, $1,775-a-month rent-stabilized apartment on the 10th floor.” nypost.com/2026/10/30/us-new…

The original film was horrible They fired the director and hired someone else who added the 15 minutes of the palps story line to save the film
>Palpatine raised a fleet of thousands of Star Destroyers on a hidden planet with no industrial base, no materials, no workforce, no explanation of how it was possible and without anyone noticing I still cannot get over how ridiculous this premise was
