Each to his own, of course, and I understand why people wouldn't like to watch the standalone episodes all in a row, but castigating people for not wanting to disrupt the beautifully tight pacing of the six chapters of "Melancholy" with cutaways to unrelated stories, is absurd.

The only achronological placement which holds any intrinsic value is having the amateur film at the beginning, as then you can have the satisfaction of realising, "Oh, so she really *is* from the future!" et cetera; and this is obviously why it was kept there in the DVD release.
