I have a message for all the "conservatives" who, angry at Trump and/or the GOP, decided they'd "teach the party a lesson." You didn't teach a party a lesson (that's impossible). You did something else:
You stuck a shiv in my back.
You stuck that shiv in the back of every other American, too.
You stuck that shiv in the back of posterity.
You stuck that shiv in the back of America herself.
And you stuck that shiv in your own back, whether you realize it or not.
Jumping from the frying pan into the fire never solves anything.
It was a stupid move from which, frankly, we may never recover. It's a bit like opening a gate to Hell in the thinking that releasing some demons will provide an object lesson in the importance of holiness. But demons don't do your bidding, but their own.

According to the national 2026 NBC/SSRS exit poll data available so far, the vote broke down roughly as follows:
White voters (72% of the electorate): 48% Democratic, 51% Republican.
Black voters (9%): 89% Democratic, 9% Republican.
Latino/Hispanic voters (10%): 62% Democratic, 35% Republican.
Asian voters (4%): 70% Democratic, 29% Republican.
All other racial groups combined (5%): 53% Democratic, 43% Republican.
Another way the poll reported it:

Voters of color combined: 71% Democratic, 27% Republican.
The same poll also broke down some race-and-sex groups:
White men: 43% Democratic, 55% Republican.
White women: 51% Democratic, 47% Republican.

Latino men: 56% Democratic, 41% Republican.
Latino women: 66% Democratic, 31% Republican.

Well, the ladies did it again. Some midterm data, compiled by Copilot AI:
The latest national exit-poll data suggest the male-female voting gap remains large and very real.
Men: 49% Democratic, 49% Republican.
Women: 58% Democratic, 40% Republican.
That means women are voting about 9 percentage points more Democratic than men on vote choice. Looking at partisan margin, men are essentially even (D+0) while women are D+18, yielding an 18-point gender gap.
A few additional details stand out:
White men favored Republicans 55% to 44%.
White women narrowly favored Democrats 51% to 47%.
Among younger voters, the gap is even wider. Women aged 18-29 voted Democratic 77% to 21%, while men aged 18-29 voted Democratic 65% to 32%.
One important caveat: these are exit-poll estimates, not final vote totals, and they'll continue to be refined as more data come in. But as of tonight, the evidence points to a male-female voting gap that is at least as prominent as in recent elections and appears to be a significant factor in Democratic gains.
In short: the gender gap currently looks to be about 18 points, with women substantially more Democratic than men.
My words now: It was similar in 2018, when men broke Republican 51-47 while women went Democrat 59-40.

It’s an amazing, though ignored, story: Murder in the United States is at its lowest level since perhaps 1900. As for the violent-crime rate in general, it fell 9.3 percent in 2025. This is the largest year-to-year decline since the FBI began estimating national trends in 1936.

As The Maine Wire reported on Wednesday, the Portland Public Schools Policy Committee held a meeting on October 14 that focused on the school district’s newly proposed policy on animals in schools.
As currently drafted, the policy states as follows: school administration must sign off on the animals, service animals must be certified, and domestic animals must be restrained.
But Abdullahi Ahmed, the Somali-born Muslim assistant superintendent for student, family, and community partnerships at Portland Public Schools, claimed that the policy toward dogs must change because of Islamic ‘ritual purity.’
He specifically cited dog saliva as an example.

They’re powerful parting words, but also, today, controversial ones. They’re met now with protestations such as “Whose God?!” and “You can be moral without God!”
Well, perhaps, but it certainly doesn’t show in contemporary America — not on the collective level, that is.
