I have a long background in managing non-profit organizations focused on women’s healthcare. I am looking forward to working on important issues in the Indiana General Assembly, like fighting to protect our environment, mitigating and adapting to the climate crisis,

More than two years after the passage of the Emancipation Proclamation, slaves still being held in Texas were finally freed on this day in 1865. Today, we celebrate #Juneteenth to honor that momentous occasion, reflect on how far we’ve come and recognize the work we have left.

Senate Democrats have offered bills to protect taxpayers from the danger of unregulated virtual charter schools since 2018. Now two such schools have defrauded the state of $86M. It's time the supermajority takes this seriously and pass necessary accountability measures.

.@TimLanane predicted almost a year ago that virtual schools were ripping off taxpayers. If only the General Assembly would pass legislation to protect taxpayer money from being stolen by virtual schools, such as bills by @SenEddieMelton and @SenMarkStoops.
There's absolutely no reason that Hoosier educators should have to wait until 2021 to see a pay raise--the only thing standing in the way of teachers seeing salary increases this year is the supermajority.
🚨 The @INSenateGOP just voted down two different plans by @SenKarenTallian and @SenEddieMelton that would have given raises to Indiana teachers this year. Apparently Republicans don’t think teachers are a priority in our state. 🚨

Gun deaths in 2017 were the highest they've been in over 50 years. Our country is suffering from a gun violence epidemic and the longer we take to address it, the longer we allow preventable gun violence to continue in our country. ow.ly/yTuJ50widhY
