Lots of iPhone Duo users are urging each other to stick a glossy screen protector over the phone’s Nano Texture coating. Videos of PPF being applied to the Duo keep popping up on Facebook these days and are getting tons of views.
The cause is the Nano Texture coating itself. This matte coating handles glare well but lowers the screen’s contrast, so images look noticeably washed out, and the surface picks up fingerprints easily and never wipes clean.
The fix Duo users are choosing is to apply a clear, glossy protector over the inner screen. After that, the screen looks clearer with much better contrast, and the glossy surface shows fewer fingerprints than the original matte coating.
The trade-off is that once it’s glossy, the screen goes back to glare and reflections outdoors, exactly what the Nano Texture coating was made to fix. So it’s a matter of taste: if you care about picture quality, stick it on, and if you use the phone in the sun a lot, leave it as is.
A PPF application clip for the iPhone Duo from Moby Case Shop got over 76 thousand views in a short time. That number shows glossy screen protectors are a topic Duo users really care about.
If you have more than 4 hours to spare, you can sit there watching this iPhone Duo fold back and forth....
Just make sure to grab some popcorn and a soda .... 🍿🍺
iPhone Duo Stress Test: Day 1 xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1vJpPNyXp…
🔥 The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra & Galaxy S27 Pro could be the first phones to have next-gen “monster” specs:
- LPDDR6 RAM, UFS 5.1 storage, Snapdragon 8 Extreme Elite Gen 6 (2nm) or Exynos 2700 (2nm).
- Just hearing it, you can already feel the speed. New RAM, new storage, new 2nm chip... next year’s S27 is truly a hardware revolution.
- If Samsung gets the Exynos 2700 on par with the Snapdragon, Exynos fans can finally hold their heads high this year!
🔥 THE NANO TEXTURE SCREENS ON THE IPAD PRO AND THE IPHONE DUO AREN’T THE SAME
- On the iPad it’s the whole glass surface, still gets lamp glare, anti-glare isn’t as strong as the iPhone Duo’s, but the screen is clearer and more 3D-looking. It’s like those anti-fingerprint tempered glass protectors.
- The stronger the anti-glare, the more you trade off in viewing angles and black levels.
- And some guy in China peeled off the Duo’s film entirely and underneath was a regular glossy glass screen, so later when it needs replacing, customers with active AppleCare only have to pay $19.99 to swap in a new film.
In short, the Duo’s nano texture screen is a film, not whole glass like the iPad Pro, guys 👍
🔥 Portrait of the person behind the super smooth unfolding effect on the iPhone Duo and a whole bunch of iOS’s top animations
Chan Karunamuni, a Human Interface Designer at Apple, recently shared that he’s one of the people who took part in designing the transition effect between the iPhone Duo’s outer screen and inner screen.
If you often follow changes to the iOS interface, you’ve probably used lots of products with his mark on them without even knowing.
Chan has worked at Apple for about 15 years, taking part in developing many standout interface experiences:
👉 iPhone X (2017): Took part in designing the gesture navigation system, including swiping up from the bottom edge to go home and switch apps, replacing the physical Home button.
👉 Dynamic Island (2022): One of the key designers behind the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro, turning the screen cutout into an interactive area with flexible stretching and shrinking effects.
👉 AirDrop and NameDrop (iOS 17): Designed the ripple effect when two iPhones are brought close together to share data.
👉 iOS 18 flashlight (2024): Took part in designing the intuitive flashlight adjustment interface, letting you change the width and intensity of the beam.
👉 Liquid Glass (2025): Took part in the team designing Apple’s new interface language, with transparency, light refraction and fluid motion effects.
What’s interesting is that these experiences all share one thing: turning seemingly very simple actions into natural, smooth movements with a physical feel.
- Apple has plenty of talented engineers and designers, but Chan Karunamuni is definitely one of the notable names behind the interface details that make the iPhone stand out.
🚨The iPhone Duo’s super smooth fold-and-unfold effect suddenly loses its “magic” in this country
- One of the most praised details on the iPhone Duo is the extremely smooth transition between the outer screen and inner screen, giving the feeling that content expands naturally with the folding motion.
- However, a user just found that when switching the iPhone Duo to a language with a right-to-left (RTL) interface like Arabic, this effect changes too.
- As a result, the interface’s motion no longer feels as seamless and natural as the English version, somewhat losing the “magic” Apple worked so hard to design.
🚨 UPDATE: STATUS OF THE IPHONE DUO THAT GOT DROPPED YESTERDAY
Don’t let yours get dropped like this guy’s, everyone
Use it as carefully as you possibly can 😭😭😭
OMG....🙏
Thank God for protecting this guy’s iPhone Duo.
He probably used up all his luck for this year 😭😭
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The apparent crack on the screen is a joke wallpaper mimicking reported "Crackgate" damage, not actual hardware failure. The poster confirmed it is just the wallpaper.

The video of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang playing with a flock of Microduck robot ducks during his keynote at GTC Berlin has gone viral big time 👀
The little ducks stomp their feet, beep like R2-D2, sit down, roll over to sleep and do flips on voice command
Just one day later, Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue said pre-orders had passed 20,000 units.
The Microduck costs $399 and is an open-source robot made by Pollen Robotics, a company under Hugging Face that Nvidia acquired back in September.
The ducks are taught basic moves in simulation, and users can teach new tricks and share them.
Early orders are expected to ship before Christmas, I think it could easily be the hot gift of this holiday season.
