Last night’s Miami Heat loss was about a few things: 1) Defensive Scheme There’s just no way anyone expected Miami to play so much drop coverage against a team like Minnesota with Ant and LaMelo. I think part of that was due to Spo tinkering a bit. The looks he gives teams during the regular season isn’t usually what they might see later in the season or in the playoffs. 2) 3 Ball No matter who you are, it’s extremely difficult to win in the NBA when you’re outscored so heavily from beyond the arc. Miami couldn’t hit from outside and many of those looks were wide open. 3) Effort For a team filled with players that have made their careers off of providing high-effort & gritty play, they were beat at basically all of the hustle stats. That can’t be the case for a team that will hang their hats on the defensive side of the floor. All in all, don’t waste your time listening to the national media or anyone overreacting after one game. It’s a long season and they’ll figure it out. @5ReasonsSports
