I tried this @Shacklands beer on Thursday. Can you guess what classic beer it is an homage to?

If you’ve ever doubted my commitment to these posts, I’ll have you know that I cut my hair for this! So while my hair straddles the line between side-part and bowl-cut, I’ll drink this Obscure Monk from @Shacklands, which straddles the line between Belgian and American Pale Ale.

Every single time I have a @Shacklands beer, it makes me happy and a little shouty...
Tonight on Pints with Polk we get into Obscure Monk, their 5.3% Belgian Pale Ale and discuss what a joy it is : youtu.be/VvMgqGNI_WI

It's one of my favourite things to say because they are some of my favourite people!

In case you don’t know, it’s @Shacklands 4th anniversary this weekend. @shacklandsdave & @Jason_Tremblay & crew- wishing you a happy anniversary. Thoroughly enjoyed an Eclipsing Farmhouse tonight, and many others over the last few weeks thx to our long over due visit in Dec. 🍻 – at Burlington, Ontario

So @Jason_Tremblay I am not surprised that you, the King of Belgians over there at @Shacklands made a winner of a Saison when I looked back at the Best of 2020. I'll either see you soon or drop another order!

I hope they get a bigger profile. I have a soft spot for them. Also, one of the only breweries to be specializing in Belgian styles in Ontario. Always a fave. And this is a good Saison

First beer in 2021... @Shacklands Tripel. Been having a few Belgians this holiday so trying a spot on 🇨🇦version . Banana and spice with a sweet effervescence- warming but hidden booze. Delightful beer from @Jason_Tremblay and @shacklandsdave to start 2021. Love it! #HNY2021 – at Burlington, Ontario

The return to @Shacklands was a gem today. @shacklandsdave chatted us up and gifted the “last” Saison Davenport in a bottle. Slightly aged the spice is right on the farmhouse perfection! Gawd this place is a jewel. Post Covid... @BeerStoreDude , we’re hanging out all day here! – at Burlington, Ontario

Please don’t follow me if my tweets constantly upset you and you see no value in what I have to say. That seems unhealthy to me.

This is a great beer that I drank for a couple of years before I realized the play on words. Not quite ‘today years old’ but close.
