Yes, we did this. This is us sending a message to the incoming government that we want Ireland to be a better place to build a technology company. We have a long way to go. Over 400 local founders, employing 8,000+ people, with €2.4 billion raised, want our government to take startups more seriously. We NEED to diversify our economy away from being a tax avoidance shop. Building homegrown technology businesses is the way we do this.
More than 400 Irish tech founders in an open letter taken as an ad in today's @businessposthq, have called on the incoming government to rethink the closure of the @NDRC_hq

Replying to @cineworld
@cineworld Like others I'm getting no response to my complaint - so here it is again: The experience we had at Cineworld was terrible. The cinema in all areas - lobby, landings, toilets and cinema itself was filthy. My seat was torn as were several I could see. 1/

The ladies toilet on level 1 had no toilet paper or means of drying hands. The men’s just stank. You charge the same as cinemas like the Lighthouse in Smithfield but what you give for the price in incomparably different. Do better Dublin Cineworld.

The usual geniuses keep using this photo, to make their usual dumb/hateful anti-immigration arguments. Quite ironic, to say the least. A few facts about this photo, for anyone interested in who those women were - and what their stories might tell you about Ireland. /1

I admit I’ve been quite staggered by the scaremongering about tomorrow’s referendums. We’re being asked to remove sexist language about women, adopt a more inclusive definition of the family, and recognise the value of care. That’s all. Please vote YES YES.

Alongside 13 colleagues from law schools around Ireland, I wrote this letter to the Irish Times to try and clear up some misunderstandings about the forthcoming amendment on the constitutional definition of Family and “durable relationships”. 1/ irishtimes.com/opinion/lette…

We are at the final stretch. After years of legal hearings and judicial deliberations, today, Britain’s High Court judges get their last chance to decide whether to wash their hands of Julian Assange and let him be extradited to the United States – where he will disappear in a supermax prison maze never to be heard of again until he dies. Julian is not on trial. He has already been declared a hero of journalism and of everyone around the world who believe in the right of the public to know what crimes their governments have perpetrated in their name, behind their backs. Britain’s High Court is on trial. This is the Court’s last chance to restore a small part of the British courts’ dignity that was sacrificed by judges who, year in year out, allowed themselves to be deployed as the legal agents of war criminals. But, let us make no mistake: It is not just Britain’s judges that are on trial. So are we – citizens, journalists, organisations and politicians who claim to care for universal human rights and press freedom. History will deliver its own verdict in due course on us depending on whether we stand with Julian while the judges deliberate – and on whether we continue to stand with Julian the day after the High Court verdict. Let us commit to passing History’s test, even if the United Kingdom’s High Court judges fail it.

What I said on @rtenews today stands. When the stories of Fr Dermot Casey's sexual abuse of little boys and girls are told, it will make very uncomfortable reading for us. But for his victims (of whom there are hundreds, if not thousands) it will be pretty well unbearable.

I understand that the Jesuits will make a statement this afternoon concerning the paedophile child psychologist Fr Dermot Casey SJ. If anyone wants to talk in strictest confidence my DMs are open.

ART-Ups vs STARTups Art-ups are the same as Startups - people putting all their effort, time and resources into creating value. Art-ups are nothing like Startups. Which is it? @xeronaut1 @NDRC_hq @creativeICAD #creativity
