TCAVA is complete garbage... vote YES for the DISCHARGE PETITION for THE MAJOR RICHARD STAR ACT
Shane Daly 🇺🇸 retweeted
The Major Richard Star Act is an important piece of legislation and it's imperative that we get it right. There is a clear path forward: the House Discharge Petition includes the full Major Richard Star Act – without cutting veterans benefits. The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act includes a reduced compromise version. Congress should never take benefits away from one group of veterans to pay for another.

Wicker and Thune voted to give 10 billion to Ukranian pensions and flipped the bird at ours. Call the numbers on the flyer and let them know what you think and spam the flyer far and wide.

Welp, we were wrong and we are willing to admit that.
TCAVA was simply a ploy to distract from the discharge petition. There is no intention for a vote to take place from what we can discern.
We are now 100% full speed on the discharge petition.
We gave republicans the chance since they hold the majority. They told us “this is the way” “the changes are happening” “the White House supports us” and here we are with 3 days left in the house with nothing done.
We are calling for the VFW and all VSO’s to now unite on the discharge petition and join us for our September 15th and 16th fly in.
This is the year for the major Richard star act. Trump can tout $5,000 to every adult in America but we can’t fund the major Richard star act??

What more does a soldier need to give of himself to receive his earned retirement pay?
Both legs left on the battlefield
Dead lined twice
Received 48 pints of blood
2 months ICU
13 months at Walter Reed

@JerryMoran @SenBlumenthal @SenatorWicker @RepBost
Is this not enough to Vote on TCAVA?
He revalidated his contract with his blood! He is only asking for a vote.
Our Combat disabled veterans don't have the luxury of time. 16,000 have died waiting. Get on the record, VOTE on TCAVA. Take care of America's veterans.
The American people will vote in November on the actions Congress takes in September.

Severely disabled, combat-wounded veterans, and Gold Star families have waited years for increased benefits. The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act would give them the relief they need.
Let’s make H.R. 9237 happen for them.

September 15-16. Senate steps. Around-the-clock. Mobile billboards circling the Capitol. Here's what 54,000 combat-wounded veterans are finally asking Congress to do.
Thread 👇
I don't care anymore whether you were for or against the TCAVA. That ship has sailed, and if anything it did more to divide us than any single senator ever managed on his own. That fight is over. It is time to stop keeping score against each other and start fighting as ONE UNIT.
This is bigger than whether you liked the Bost Amendment or the Bilirakis Amendment. This is every veteran directly affected by the wounded veteran tax. This is every veteran who was never touched by this offset personally but still shows up for their brothers and sisters anyway. This is every military family and every patriotic civilian who is sick of watching Washington nickel-and-dime the people who bled for this country. ALL OF US need to stand together on this, starting right now. It is time for the Major Richard Star Act to be NATIONAL NEWS.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS. September 15-16 (and possibly longer), veterans are gathering at the Capitol to make Congress do something it has apparently forgotten how: ITS JOB.
Around-the-clock presence on the Senate steps. Mobile billboards circling the Capitol. Pop-up press conferences scheduled throughout each day. Target: 60 senators — the number it takes to stop 100 grown adults from hiding behind one man's objection.
The bill is the Major Richard Star Act. It restores full retirement pay AND VA disability to roughly 54,000 combat-wounded veterans medically retired before 20 years — because their bodies gave out fighting for a country that now nickel-and-dimes them on the way out. Cost: $9.75 BILLION over TEN YEARS.
Here is who that $975 million a year actually goes to. Not a statistic. Names.
MAJOR RICHARD STAR — the man this bill is named for. Army combat engineer, Ohio, deployed Desert Shield/Desert Storm and multiple tours of Iraq and Afghanistan clearing IED-laden roads. Burn pit exposure gave him Stage 4 lung cancer. Medically retired just short of 20 years. During chemotherapy — on oxygen, barely able to stand — the government told him he had to choose between his retirement and his disability check. He died in February 2021 at 51, never seeing the bill named after him become law.
SGT. LYLE ALLEN — 14 years, multiple OIF deployments as a combat engineer, hit by multiple IEDs on road-clearance operations. Traumatic brain injury, rated 100% disabled, "total and permanent" — it will never improve. His words: "We are eligible for all the benefits except our retirement. So, we are retired without retirement."
SGT. CHAD ROGERS — multiple OIF deployments, exposed to something in-theater nobody could ever identify — "the air would burn your skin." 100% service-connected. His grandfather served in WWII; he enlisted planning on 30 years himself. Instead he got a medical discharge and a government clawing back the pension he already earned.
SGT. LATOYA LUCAS — Purple Heart recipient, her Humvee took an RPG strike in 2003. Every December she gets a year-end statement spelling out, to the dollar, exactly how much of her earned retirement the offset ate that year.
SGT. AMANDA TALLMAN — single mother, medically retired from combat injuries. If she accepts the VA disability she earned, she loses more than $1,200 a month in retirement pay she also earned. That's rent. Groceries. Daycare. Gone, because Congress decided a wounded soldier only gets to keep one paycheck, not both.
Add Cpl. Pat Murray, MSG Gabriel Peterson, Michael Braman, and the Marine who lost both legs to an IED three years short of his 20 — same story, 54,000 times over. Congress fixed this exact injustice for 20-year retirees back in 2004. The only people still being punished are the ones whose bodies didn't hold out long enough to hit that number. That's the entire "crime."
What's next, a senator claims there's no money for wounded veterans... wait, I was just told he voted YEA on a $924.7 BILLION defense bill the very next day!!! Funny how the math works when it's not a guy who lost his legs doing the asking.
HOW YOU HELP: I need this in front of cameras, not just timelines. If you have any way to reach Sean Hannity (@seanhannity), Clay Travis and Buck Sexton (@clayandbuck), Rose Tennent (@roseunplug), Johnny Joey Jones (@Johnny_Joey), Harris Faulkner (@HarrisFaulkner), or Bill Maher (@billmaher) — TAG THEM. Email them. Flood them. I've emailed every one of them myself and gotten radio silence. Maybe it takes 10,000 of you instead of one of me.
@TPUSA — this is exactly the fight your chapters were built for. Bring your people to the steps.
Whatever side of TCAVA you stood on, stand on this side now. One unit. One fight. One bill.
But what do I know, I am only the guy who has actually read every one of their files.

If you’ve ever wondered, “What can I do to make a difference?”—this is your opportunity.
The Veterans Justice Alliance exists because veterans deserve a voice that doesn’t disappear when the headlines do. Every day, we’re advocating for legislation that improves the lives of veterans and their families. We don’t do this for a paycheck—we’re 100% unpaid volunteers who give our time because we believe our community deserves better.
Our mission doesn’t stop with federal advocacy. We’re also working to help ensure that every state offers meaningful property tax relief for disabled veterans, especially in states that currently don’t provide a full exemption. No veteran should have to choose where to live based on whether their state values their sacrifice.
But VJA is about more than legislation.
For many of us, leaving the military meant losing a sense of mission, purpose, and brotherhood. We’re building a community where veterans can reconnect, support one another, and once again be part of something bigger than themselves. Whether you served for four years or twenty, your experience and your voice still matter.
When you become a VJA member, you’re not just supporting an organization—you’re joining a movement of veterans committed to helping one another and creating lasting change for future generations.
Together, we can advocate. Together, we can build. Together, we can make a difference.
Join the Veterans Justice Alliance today and help us continue the mission.

Combat wounds should not come with a tax.
Chapter 61 combat-disabled retirees earned their military retirement pay through service and sacrifice. Yet federal law still forces many to surrender it dollar for dollar.
