Sam DeMase, career coach at @ZipRecruiter, reads AI-generated resumes every day. She says they all sound identical. "It'll say something like I efficiently produce results at scale. That doesn't give me any information. ... When you have AI write your resume, that tells me nothing about your communication style except that you sound robotic." Her advice: use AI as a thought partner, not as the writer. Your resume needs to be keyword-optimized for tracking systems, but every bullet is also a chance to show how you actually think and communicate. Both need to be true.

Employers want AI skills now. But Sam DeMase, career coach at @ZipRecruiter, says they're raising the bar on the human skills AI can't replicate at the same time: critical thinking, judgment, and creativity. "What I find fascinating about that is those are counterpoints to AI's weak spots." Most people still write "interpersonal skills" or "empathy" on their resume and leave it there. She says that's not enough anymore. Training a team is leadership. Sales is persuasive communication. Promoting others is an advanced skill. Point to the work you've actually done.
