CFA. Caution: will tweet a lot (of bad opinions) about sports (NFL/MLB), sabermetrics, movies (especially 00s comedies), and television. Sometimes my dogs too.

Friends: I started a Substack called "The Analytics Say..." where I'm going to be writing about thoughts that are too long for Twitter. It is free and will always be free. My first post is on where does the Royals organization goes from here theanalyticssay.substack.com…

Feels like you only need one hand (compliment) to count the Reid/Mahomes era belt whippings. Something like the two SBs, at Denver, at Tennessee, tonight probably qualifies.

Chiefs have run ONE sneak (a Noah Gray sneak in 2022) since 2022 regardless of position sneaking it (per @FantasyPtsData). Panthers even have had Bryce Young run one.
You see all these sneaks (TE or QB) and it's just crazy the Chiefs don't have one in the playbook

Particularly on late downs
Seattle came in as the 24th ranked offense by DVOA and other than when the Seahawks shoot themselves in their foot, the Chiefs defense (12th in DVOA) has been walked pretty good

Velus Jones being out is a net positive if it forces them out of giving him these silly touches
#Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed (knee) will not return, while RB Velus Jones Jr. is out because of a hamstring injury.

On the one hand the Seahawks have played great and it's a 13 point advantage On the other hand the Seahawks haven't played that great and it's a 13 point advantage

Yeah Butker is about a league average kicker these days. He cashed in on that 2023 season perfectly, but has had two season (including this year so far) with below average Field Goal Rate Over Expectation and one slightly above.

Williams interception was worth ~10% win probability (Seattle went from 94% to 84%). A touchdown there would have probably been the nail.

To be fair, that wasn't a gimme but he was a few yards short, which is worse than having the distance and missing wide

24 and 33 gotta drag his ass over the line
Jahmyr Gibbs goes down before scoring a TD to help run out the clock

Also.....Gibbs should have just scored?
Packers made it TOO obvious they wanted Gibbs to score
