Thanks to the @sheffielduni live solar PV tracker, we saw that last Monday the UK broke the all-time record for the generation of solar power! At the time, about 30% of the overall electricity demand was being met by solar power. ☀Read more below: businessgreen.com/news/40142…

Clear skies and cool temperatures have helped UK #solar to break the all-time peak generation record. Around 12:30 on Monday 20 April 2020, a peak of 9.68GW was recorded by the @ShefSolarF tracker, beating the previous record of 9.55GW set on 14 May 2019.

Last week not only provided a new daily peak generation record on Monday, with 9.68GW at 12:30, but also a weekly one too!
#Solar met over 11% of UK electricity demand between Monday and Sunday, with a record total of 485.41GWh, ensuring a new #coalfree record is within reach!
