🇿🇦 I am a South African. And I think we’re kinda fucking great. Sorry, but this is factual. I live in an underrated country. Here’s a thread of why I feel this way. Spoiler: you’re gonna hate some of these. 🇿🇦

Hear me out. I always get the initial scare of a spider. But then we’re cool. And now kiddo and I are very attached to this spider, which we have named “Big One”. But I think it’s fucking cute how they curl up to sleep. They sleep like people, with one foot out of the blanket 🥹

Ah fuck. There’s gonna be a Petzer video about this tomorrow, isn’t there? ❤️🇿🇦❤️
HE DID IT! 🇿🇦 Thomas van Tonder is a world record holder. 🏆 He conquered 600 monkey bars beneath the iconic Bloukrans Bridge, putting South Africa’s world-class adventure destination in the global spotlight. SO @RedBullZA who made it happen. #VisitSouthAfrica #RedBullBars

I’m still part of so many work chats with teams I haven’t worked with for months or years, just so I can randomly pop up and do shit like this that has nothing to do with me. I find it very fulfilling.

Day 27: The Babadook (2014). This was a great film. Truly great. But goddamn that kid made me want to pull chunks of my hair out. I’m not proud admitting this. Gonna show it to Raph and tell him this is what happens when you behave like an asshole 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Day 26 Take 2: Terrifier 3 (2024). I mean. This is the campy shit I was hoping for. Silly, effective, nightmare-inducing nonsense. Damien Leone just doing his thing and sometimes you just need it this simple and cheesy 😂😂😂

Day 26: I Saw The TV Glow (2024). So I’m not sure if I was in the right headspace for this. It just didn’t hit. There’s plenty good about it but it kinda just made me depro. Fuck it, I’m gonna watch Terrifier 3 again 😂😂😂😂 thank god today gave me options.

Bonus content!!! Day 25: The Cycle (2026). This wasn’t on my list but someone mentioned it. I fucking love a murder mystery. Deborah Ann Wolf is great in this. It’s giving police procedural that happens to be horror. What a fucking unexpected win.

Professionalism is important. But sometimes you need to swear in the email to land the joke. And HR hasn’t gotten to me yet 🤷‍♀️ Have fun in your workplace. Why bother otherwise?

Day 25: Malignant (2021). Actually my first time seeing this. James Wan always delivers but I feel like they gave away the twist in the opening credits 🧐 I am 💯 gonna use the phrase “Gabriel, you’ve been a bad bad boy” at work this week, though. It’s campy horror fun ❤️

Day 24: House of Wax (2005). Talk about a classic guilty pleasure. It’s so bad. I fucking love it 😂😂😂. Like it’s genuinely not good. In the best way possible. ❤️❤️ Omg it’s so stupid 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️

Day 23: Barbarian (2022). I loved this when I first saw it. I still love it now. Nothing will ever beat the first viewing. Zach Cregger is one of my favourite current directors cos he always does the weird shit. But like classy weird. This movie sucked for AirBnB though 😂

I had such a long day, but such a good day. Pitched our solution. Got 5 yeses from the 5 stakeholders. Had laughs and good times. Potentially can actually help some people with our solution. Fuck yes when you use your job to actually do some good in the world 🥰

Day 22: [REC] 2 (2009). I hate to be this person, but the original was better. And I don’t like the religious aspect. Like just let it be a weird fucking virus. It’s still better than most found footage stuff though. I’ve learned some new Spanish swear words 😁

Day 21: Malum (2023). This is a movie about satanic pork or something. Seriously though, some very psychological horror and worthwhile scares. Also, a police station has never seemed so terrifying. Also also, yay cultists! A very good time.

Day 20: Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (2026). I’m a mom. But I’m not THAT good of a parent. Like I probably would’ve tapped out WAY before these guys. But you know, solid film, creepy acting, children are terrifying and you should never have them ever. Great film.

One of my best parenting qualities is that I have no issue with letting my kid get zero for things he forgot to do or tell me about 🤷‍♀️

Day 19: Stopmotion (2023). The production design in this film is so fucking cool. The acting is meh. The “reveals” are meh. The scares are pretty good. But the materials they use are so frikkin cool and I want to squish them in my hands. It’s totally for me 😁🥰

Valedictory 🎓 Do you remember your shirt signing day? The messages you wrote to peers, how you wished them well, the slang and secret codes. Do you still own that signed shirt? Have you lived up to the promises you made to yourself?
