π§΅I have created a thread of some of Starmerβs statements pre this U-turn that were either a lie when he said them or he failed to bother to listen for 14 months. If you have more - add them.
π¨How many farm businesses stopped investing in their farms during those 14months?
π¨How many rural businesses reliant on farm investment laid off workers, lost revenue, during those 14 months?
π¨How many farms have spent money on lawyers, solicitors and land agents during the past 14 months rather than growing the farm and producing food?
π¨How many farms decided to just sell up and be done with it during those 14 months?
πHow many elderly farmers refused life saving treatment during those 14 months?
πHow many elderly farmers took their own lives during those 14 months?
As the saying goes: Better late than never but that is of no consolation to those who have already suffered.
The struggle continues for those above the new threshold - dairy farms likely to be above and we are losing them at an alarming rate.
We will not stop until this growth bashing policy - for all family businesses and the U.K. as a whole - is scrapped. πͺπ
Merry Christmas Everyone π²π²π²π²π²π²π²π²π²π²
To whom it may concern:
π¨Taxing a farming business is NOT equivalent to taxing personal wealth.
π¨Farming businesses pay exactly the same taxes as every other business
π¨Farmers pay exactly the same personal taxes as everyone else.
Not sure why the Govt keep comparing IHT on farming businesses with IHT on personal wealth.
Itβs comparing apples and pears. πvπ

It amazes me that politicians like Rayner and Burnham are allowed to spout their lies about EU and Brexit without challenge.
Same old media.

Of course there have been winners & losers, but even then the impact of Brexit hard to pin down.
E.g. Goods exports to EU are down, but so are goods exports to non-EU countries, driven largely by UK policy that increased energy prices & led to manufacturers leaving UK.

Does @AngelaRayner realise how misleading this is?
Even if not, good journalists should have figures at hand to correct her & other Govt. ministers trying to imply UK exports to the EU have gone down since Brexit.
In fact total exports to the EU have increased since Brexit.

I donβt have Β£2 million in assets, and I donβt earn Β£200k a year. Iβm quite short on both counts. So the HMRC wealth audit doesnβt impact me. Yet.
But it signals a clear intention. A lack of respect for the individual. What is yours is only yours until the government decides they want it to fund further welfare expansion.
Property rights only exist in this country as long as your holdings are meagre enough to escape the fiscal Eye of Sauron. They will come for it all.

This isnβt meant for the 0.1% who have lawyers and accountants optimising their returns. The idea is to scare the merely middle wealthy, in the hope theyβll be shaken into paying more. What they donβt realise is that everyone who sees this letter understands they have less and less reason to stay in the UK.

HMRC has quietly sent hundreds of letters to wealthy people asking them to reveal what they own. Not what they earn or what tax they've paid, but what they own.
Here's what's going on. A unit called the Wealthy Team covers anyone with "incomes of Β£200,000 or more, or assets equal to or above Β£2m in any of the last three years". That's about 850,000 people. The letters ask for a meeting to discuss "sources of wealth", "future intentions", trusts, companies, family arrangements and even "significant life events" you expect in the coming years.
It is presented as voluntary, but there's a nudge: "We may still need to carry out compliance checks on your tax returns. However, speaking with you first may help avoid this."
Until now, inspectors have usually only asked about income and earnings. Experts call this a "sea change". One lawyer asked the obvious question: "does HMRC have a right to know what someone owns and not simply that they have paid the right amount of tax?" A tax adviser said: "No other G20 country asks for this level of detail from its taxpayers about what they own."
So what is it for? Advisers suspect it is groundwork for an exit tax, a charge on your wealth for leaving the country. As one put it: "Building that knowledge could indeed be part of moving towards an exit tax."
You don't have to be a billionaire to see the problem.

The UK has around 11 million citizens aged 18-30, with roughly 15% unemployed (1.6 million citizens).
The EU has around 70 million citizens aged 18-30, with roughly 15% unemployed (10.5 million citizens).
The UK has higher wages and working conditions than most of the EU.
So our Government's solution to high youth unemployment, is to add another 10 million competitors into the job market for them.
I wonder how the rejoin crowd will react when freedom of movement brings in even more illegal and legal migrants, when the economy doesnβt improve but gets worse and when all the extra red tape remains and the EU red tape comes on top of itβ¦

Postmasters were told the figures were right and they had to pay. It took a High Court trial in 2019 to prove Horizon could be wrong.
If HMRC can take the money first and check later, who protects the person with the wrong bill?
This is an extraordinary expansion of government power.
Labour reportedly wants to give HMRC greater powers to take money directly from your bank account over unpaid tax.
But what happens when HMRC gets your tax bill wrong?
Who protects innocent people from having their money taken?
This looks like a desperate government determined to squeeze every last penny out of the British public.

Musk refuses to reinstate Ukraine's starlink as whole families continue to die.
A true monster.
The speed limits on Starlink and Starshield are still there. The speed has not been restored. And the delivery of interceptors to protect us against Russian ballistic missiles is still delayed. Weβre waiting for interceptors that were already agreed on. But they are still not coming. This is a real problem, because the Russians attack us almost every single day.
All of this is happening while we continue our quite successful operations on the front. We keep defending positions. Things have become harder β partly because of the Starlink and Starshield policies and speed limits. But our frontline is still holding and I am proud of how strong our people are.
