Someone handed me back my lost wallet today. Faith in humanity restored somewhat.

Social media has been the biggest own of the West! Our adversaries don't allow their own population to use these apps, but their bots poison the discourse here. The MAGAsphere is basically a Russian data centre but we continue to let them set the weather. How foolish we are.
If people like this had been around in the 1930s Britain would have yielded to Hitler. There is something really twisted about people who are so patriotic yet can’t comprehend the desire of another nation to defend her borders and stand up to a brutal dictator.

"I can see why" the country is in such a mess when this is their response to something that, let's be honest, they wouldn't bring back themselves should Labour make it stick. Can we not just work in the national interest, ever??
Many Tory MPs I speak to privately acknowledge the triple lock is an unsustainable and ridiculous policy that needs to be binned. I can see why this is an easy battle line to be drawn with the pensioner vote being so lucrative - but it's grim that this is being done at the potential expense of maintaining indefensible intergenerational unfairness

Has straining relations with NATO been a costless endeavour though? Are there other US interests that (might have) benefited from a warmer alliance?
To repeat, this is an enormous deal. Keep score on who downplays it or minimizes its importance. President Trump has secured part of the gateway to the Arctic —an unqualified big win. Those that won’t admit it will also have likely damned POTUS for straining relations with Denmark and NATO over elevating the topic from the start of his second term. Now that is behind the allies, the threats are identified and excluded, access guaranteed for Golden Dome facilities and any other basing needs. Sheesh TDS is a powerful drug.

I'd lean into it. Let's make talking points of Puerto Rico, Guam etc...

Reparations from Normandy?
It’s weird to think that England was essentially a colonised apartheid state for around 200 years. Normans, who made up less than 1% of the population, owned 95% of the land just 20 years after the Battle of Hastings (the Domesday Book tells us this)

Boffins never change. Hugely intelligent people, devoid of wisdom. AI researchers are simply the latest, most dangerous iteration of the type. We've all come across them.

...in coordination with multiple other states.
Foreign policy and the national interest is being sacrificed for a few votes from extremists in Holborn and St Pancras.

Now do France, Canada, Swede...
The Conservative Party gets it. The relationship with Israel is critical for Britain’s domestic security. Labour is blowing up that relationship to appease its Gaza First base.

Pretty sad when one must top up one's income with rage bait.
The Brits are first world? It’s hard to hear the civilization over the calls to prayer in Birmingham and Sheffield

If that meets your bar for evidence then I think they're better journalists than you.
Arday blogged all those marathons in real time. I can’t remember the dozens of journalists who told me there’s no evidence he ran them. Are any of you big enough — or good enough journalists — to correct your error?

This comes from a good place I'm sure. And it's enough for the converted, clearly. It's not actually evidence though is it? These are all secondary sources, ultimately resting on his contemporaneous narrative. It's worrying that so many cannot recognise that. A choice perhaps.
One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days! Wow! What a thing to claim! And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it. Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄 🧵 1/26

In the longer run, the overreach regarding this story might kill the whole movement dead. After all, the vast majority of them have no principles. Once the general public have decided their take is batshit they'll recalibrate.

One might describe that approach as cowardly. 🤷‍♂️ #Fıfaworldcup2026 #ArgentinaVsEspaña

Assuming this model is correct. We still can't affect the necessary change alone. We're the Maldives as per sea-level rise, with barely more influence. Research? Indeed. But he focus must be mitigation now, for everyone. The main players are going to keep playing regardless.
The collapse of the AMOC, the warm water currents system that keeps Western Europe warmer than Eastern Canada, is such an economically existential risk to this country the British state needs to have a serious grip on research about it. It’s a huge national security risk and needs to be treated as such. If this research is correct that a collapse of the system becomes locked in if emissions continue to rise throughout this century this needs to be front and centre of public awareness why Net Zero is so important to our wellbeing.

They wanted 'all the smoke' but that intervention only brought fire.
Overturn this. 🧏‍♂️ #USABEL

I imagine you'll get a better version of Belgium than you might have otherwise, had normal rules applied.
As an American I never want to beat a team that is missing their best player. I want all the smoke. Guess things are different overseas.
