A good very late Sunday morning X! I thought I would post my thoughts about the game yesterday: Yesterday stung. We led Wisconsin 17-0 at home, had the pick-six, had the short-field score, and still walked out of Beaver Stadium with a 24-20 loss after they scored twice in the last four minutes. That 72-yard TD with 1:13 left is going to sit with a lot of us for a while. We probably should have won that game. I’m tired of the immediate pile-on, though. This is a new team with a new staff. Matt Campbell is four games into Year 1. The offense stalled after a hot start. The passing game went quiet. We couldn’t close it out. Those are real problems. They’re also the kinds of problems you see when a program is still installing a new system and a new culture. I’ve been going to Penn State games for five decades. I’ve watched rebuilds, I’ve watched “this is the year,” and I’ve watched people demand a coach’s head before the first Big Ten slate is even finished. That noise doesn’t help the players or the staff. Give this group a few years. Let Campbell actually coach. Judge him after he’s had time to put his stamp on recruiting, development, and in-game decisions — not after one collapse against a Wisconsin team that finally made us pay for not finishing. We lost a winnable homecoming game. That’s disappointing. It is not a referendum on the entire Campbell era. We go to Northwestern on Friday. Get back to work. WE ARE.
