Nisha's parents were just cruel, they didn't just try leave her fend for herself in middle of harsh lands in a sandstorm. But their original plan set Nisha up fail. She was gotta wake up her fanily gone & strange there to take her away.

Why was Pavi healed like this? Raava uses the Avatar state & yellow/white engery to keep the avatar alive when hurt but not heal their injuries. Which why Katara had heal both Aang & Korra when they hurt.
Could this be a another spirit helping not Raava?
