"The Navy also received approval for.. a .. next-generation destroyer, a warship that will be built using modern techniques and have a displacement of more than 10,000 tonnes"

P18 NGD is finally here it seems. The PIB release was unusually vague:
"Other major Naval platforms: indigenously designed and constructed major Naval platforms will possess modern-day warfare capabilities and enhance the combat capability of the Navy."
⚡️Indian Navy set to launch three indigenous warship projects:
Project-18A (P-18A) Next Generation Destroyers (NGD)
- Six ships
- 14,000 - 15,000 tons
- RFP in 3 years
- Construction starts in 8 years
P-15C destroyers
- Four ships @ ₹50,000 cr
- RFP in 2027
- Construction starts RFP + 3 years
- Will use Kolkata & Visakhapatnam class capabilities + newer sensors, weapons, EW & AD
P-17B frigates
- Six ships @ ₹40,000 crore
- 3 by MDL, 3 by GRSE
- RFP in 18 months
- Construction starts RFP + 4 years

- NGD taking this long is disappointing. But 14-15k tons is huge I hope its true. Should focus on having enough VLS, hypersonic, SMART, DEW, railgun.
- P-15C is logical. Imo 🇯🇵 UNICORN tech will debut here. Might be why it took so long.
- P-17B atleast should've been done at a better pace. Same goes for LHD/LPD.

IAF & Army to order HAL LUH
- HAL has built 12, orders for another 187 in pipeline worth ₹20,000 cr
- Light helo reqmnt is for 400 total, remaining 50% will be from private industry as L1 L2
- Navy is also buying light maritime choppers for SAR & other ops
aninews.in/news/national/gen…
- So three types of light helicopters to replace two: Cheetah & Chetak. What a ridiculous idea, I'm surprised this is being reported a flex. Like are you _ing kidding me? Just buy 400 LUH wtah. I'm sorry, I can't think of a more civil way to convey what I'm feeling.
- Let private sector learn to make helicopters by selling to civilians & heck, even to the Navy esp if it's smaller model than UHM. Why do you have to steal from the IDDM pie for that?
- I'm flabbergasted, how did this insane idea get through the entire system & get approved.
- IDDM should come before private sector encouragement. The defence sector should not be used as a bargaining chip for any investment.
- HAL has a huge number of issues, but RWRDC isn't a slouch. If HAL alternative is the goal, get the private sector to make the LUH design. GoI owns HAL.
The Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) programme has entered a critical testing phase, HAL demonstrates autorotation landing capability at Maximum All-Up Weight (AUW)
- Finally some good PR from HAL
- If HAL monopoly in helicopters has to be removed, license production of LUH to a private player too. Let them invest money & make mods instead of 🪛 a foreign platform. That they can do for the civilian needs.

Cheap internet has made information easily accessible, but somehow, the habit of actually researching a topic before forming an opinion seems to be disappearing.
Why was there no outrage when Torrent Power received approval for the project, when the proposed PSP site was already known? Why wake up now and start questioning the project without even understanding its background?
Yes, the estimated number of trees to be felled is high, and that deserves scrutiny. Environmental concerns are legitimate. But the entire purpose of a Pumped Storage Project (PSP) is to support renewable energy storage and grid stability. You cannot oppose every infrastructure project in the name of the environment while conveniently ignoring the need for reliable, cleaner energy.
And Can't people even read and understand the project details before making allegations? Dragging unrelated names into the debate without establishing the facts is a ridiculous argument.
The logic that saving the environment means opposing energy storage while continuing to depend on coal-fired power is equally absurd. What exactly is the alternative being proposed?
Ironically, people living in high-rise towers across expanding urban areas are now lecturing everyone about environmental protection.
If this were a data centre or any other project with questionable environmental or economic implications, we would be equally critical. The point is not to support every project blindly; it is to evaluate projects based on facts, technical merits, environmental impact, and long-term benefits.
The project site also reportedly falls outside the Ecologically Sensitive Zone. If that is the case, then the discussion should focus on actual environmental clearances, ecological assessments, mitigation measures, and the project's necessity , not misinformation and manufactured outrage.
People need to develop the habit of reading official documents, understanding the facts, and researching before jumping to conclusions.
This is exactly how Maharashtra risks losing big-ticket investments and infrastructure projects to other states. When every major project becomes a political controversy, investors eventually look for places where execution is less complicated.
The irony is even greater when the same people oppose river-linking projects but demand uninterrupted water and electricity supply, 24×7.
They want development, but oppose the infrastructure required to support it. They demand environmental protection, but how many of them actually plant trees, protect local ecosystems, or contribute to conservation themselves?
Environmental protection and infrastructure development are not mutually exclusive. The real debate should be about responsible development, credible environmental safeguards, and evidence-based decision-making—not uninformed outrage.
Maharashtra needs informed citizens who can question projects intelligently, not people who oppose everything first and research later.

Pushed by Indian LeLis to make discussions comparable to the US & gain validation from white LeLis.
This is yet another example of how LeLis 'rewrite' reality. You would then be forced to argue from their pov which will massively change the direction of debates & discussions.
One thing I don’t understand is this narrative that tribals are “true natives” on this land. This is another American talking point that has taken root in India, all Indian communities are “native” to this land. Everyone has been here for thousands of years.
The land of India belongs to everyone, no communities have more rights to the land than anyone else.
And if UCs are “invaders” in India, what does that make Indian Christians and Muslims?

Dawg India when?
Literally a physical fight over which Chinese local government could claim a semiconductor joint-venture company.
A semiconductor company located in Wuhan was suddenly relocated to a city in Zhejiang that was also a joint investor. But the official relocation document seemed to have a fake corporate seal. There was some physical altercation over the real corporate seal. Police in both local governments got involved. Now the whole thing is under investigation.
The bigger takeaway is that Chinese local governments really want to get the downstream benefits of these high-tech firms and investment. They're literally willing to get into a fight and bring in the police to settle a dispute.

Arunachal Pradesh needs the Frontier Highway & dams (for hydro, pumped hydro & flood mitigation). Without transport & power there won't be any economic development. Or defence. Or tourism. Or advanced agriculture.
- Those imbeciles who blindly say no to basic development just because "aww nature" should be deprived of all modern amenities. Such entitlement should be a crime. You can't build a single shed without causing ecological problems, go live in thatched huts or caves instead of 5 star hotels under AC then. Biblical levels of hypocrisy.
- Obviously overdevelopment of fragile areas is bad. The best India can and should do is prioritize. We've built too much in some areas and nothing in others. Time to build where there's nothing currently.
