Where Netflix’s African strategy stands: In Africa, Netflix’s investment now runs largely through South Africa. On September 9, a month before Amadasun’s exit, the streamer marked a decade in the country with a slate of nine or more titles, including Blood Legacy season two, Love Is Blind: South Africa and Another Disaster Holiday. It also announced a multi-title deal with Tshedza Pictures for four scripted series. Netflix says it has made more than 300 South African titles available, partnered with over 30 production companies and supported more than 8,000 jobs. Between 2016 and 2022, South Africa took roughly 71% of Netflix’s $175 million continental investment.

🟢⚡MORE: Nigerian originals have been scaled back since 2025, and Netflix has said it is not exiting the market. The Nigerian originals released in 2026, Aníkúlápó and Blood Sisters season two, were continuations already in the pipeline. Shock Africa understands that Netflix now licenses about one recent Nigerian cinema release a month, for African viewers only.
