Research by Drs. Dmitry Rinberg (@DimaRinberg) and Shy Shoham (@shohamlab) suggests “temporal filtering” may encode odor identity while suppressing background signals, raising new questions about sensory perception. Read more: nature.com/articles/s41593-0…

In today's House appropriations committee hearing on the HHS budget, @NIHDirector defended the BRAIN initiative, along with the other programs funded by the 21st century cures act, as "critical": "We cannot let them die."

I'm super excited to share some results from the Science PRIMA retinal prosthesis clinical trial, including that it's exceeded its main efficacy endpoint with a mean acuity improvement of 4.6 EDTRS lines. Trial participants are almost completely blind due to macular degeneration. There are no good options available to these patients today.

Very sad to hear about the passing of Yves Fregnac - an original thinker who published important work on V1 selectivity & shunting inhibition and, later, on the changing culture of neuroscience research, which we discussed widely during Capocaccia meetings science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

I apologize if our previous preprint post was taken as if the original results were irreproducible. The skin clearing was reproduced. Although other issues remain, we decided to retract our preprint. I apologize to @HongNeuroTech and the community for the confusion.
Check out our new bioRxiv preprint that challenges the recent in vivo optical clearing paper with tartrazine dye in Science. To be clear, they only demonstrated optical clearing of *dead cells*. Tartrazine cannot make live tissues transparent doi.org/10.1101/2024.09.29.6…
